Anybody have a good free tool for seeing how many Google searches are performed? I'm familiar with Google's Adwords tool, but it seems a bit skewed. I know not all tools use the same searchengines, but the numbers don't seem to jive. I know about the Wordtracker free tool, but are the results for daily, monthly or quarterly? I'd just like a tool that gives Google's search count at least semi accurately. I mean what are you guys using? Thanks
I use the Google Adwords tool. I generally find the data very good. Google only uses samples to determine what people are searching so some of the data will be skewed, but I have found it mostly accurate. If you want to use another tool to check Google's data have a look at the SEO Book Keyword Suggestion tool- http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/ They use Wordtracker data. I've found it fairly reliable. It gives daily search numbers.
here you go, adwords external tool shows monthly searches per keyword. https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
Yeah that's two of the three tools that I'm using now, the other is the free Wordtracker tool, but there are huge discrepencies. I know they use different sources to gather the results, but I'm getting kind of frustrated by seeing the numbers at Google and then seeing a whole different bunch of stats from the seobook tool and Wordtracker with way less numbers. Just thought that you guys might be using something different then Google's tool the numbers seems highly inflated. For instance for the last week in November the URL in my signature has been bouncing around in the 1-5 position on Google's first page and I can tell you it's no where near the 550,00 searches they claim for November. Just try the search phrase 32 hdtv lcd Thanks
well u can also check out http://keyworddiscovery.com/search.html and also offcourse wordtracker's free tool. there is also a tool http://www.submitexpress.com/keytracker.php which gives both results of wordtracker and keyworddiscovery
That seems more in line with what I've been seeing (I know... they don't use Google to get the results) But how the heck does Google figure 550,000 searches a month? Even a year seems a stretch. Thanks for the links
And which tool is that? when I do a search on Google all I get is their Adwords tool the one that's already been mentioned several times. Thanks
Adword Keyword Tool returns only the traffic from the Adword environment. I have always questioned if the volumn also includes organic search. One thing I do know is that the total are for "order of importance" and not to be taken a serious. Noneof the SEs report the real numbers because of "click fraud", "re-searching (hitting the Go button over and over), and the auto traffic generators that run up BS numbers. Todate, there is nothing better than Adwords Keyword Tool. I am not interested in MSN or ASK or other BS SE' traffic that wordtracker reports. The SEO game is Google, just look at your analytics. The Google environment makes up over 70% of you traffic. Even Yahoo doesn't count now. If you want accurate data, take $2,500 and put it into a Adwords campaign that contains your keywords. When you run out of money, you will have accurate data (for your ads and landing pages).
From what I understand Google's tool uses it's search partners as well, which if you have a top ranking shouldn't matter as much. Unless they use only sponsered listings. But like you said click fraud, software search queries, etc. run up the search count, but somehow the numbers don't add up. I know some PPC engines inflate the search count but neutral services such as Wordtracker and the seobook tool seems the opposite and the numbers are to conservative. I was just hoping to find in between services that's a little more accurate. I used to go to Google's tool and find a .com with a high search count, start jumping up and down, register the domain spend days building the site and trying to drive traffic to it only to find a whole set of different numbers. I find it's frustrating to spend hours doing the research only to find that it's inaccurate. Just hoping to find a better way. Thanks
I find that google is usually the closest you will get for accuracy. I've tried a few but always end up sticking with google analytics and the like.
You're looking for this tool that Google only recently released (and quietly too, I might add). http://www.google.com/sktool/
Hmmm... one tool says 550,000 per month and one tool says 42 per month. That's A BIT of a descrepency. Thanks for the link
How about webmaster tools? I like webmaster tools. Oh yeah... it cant search. I miss the overture inventory search
