lmocr and vulcano, I may apply again, but not for a while. It wasn't so much about frustration but more about the little bits of hypocrisy I've been reading about lately combined with the 80/100 sites issue that's got me somewhat put off about joining DMOZ.

Welcome to the ODP Caios! You'll find a forum for new editors on the inside, where you can post your questions. Well I say that .... There may be a delay before the software lets you into the ODP forum. I know it has acted up that way in the past. Are you able to get in?

Welcome to dmoz, Caios! If you send me your editor name, I'll look for you over there. :)

PS - You should have forum access by now. The particular problem that Genie mentioned is fixed.

Glad to have you on board at dmoz, caius. You have me interested in visiting your hometown already. I think we sped past it once on the way to catch a ferry. ;)

Is it still worth it to spend this much of your time trying to join a directory? Maybe a few years ago it was worthwhile to join this website, and spend hours working your way into a directory niche that will be profitable? Just make websites!

No, don't waste your time if your objective is profit.

What objective is there other than profit?

That sums up the total lack of understanding between the majority of submitters and the majority of editors. 90% of the editing is done by people who just like to do it. 90% of the submissions are done by people who cannot believe that is true.

 Nope- It is not me who lives a sad life. It is the people who site around and do dmoz editing solely for the "good of mankind". Personally I would rather spend the time doing something worthwhile with my family.

I edit because I enjoy it - the "good of mankind" is a secondary consideration.
