Do you test your landing pages in different browsers?

I read many important things around adwords, the importance of making sure everything is setup correctly etc

Just wondering how many of you check landing pages that you put together to see if they look correct in the various browsers and versions?

I imagine it would be quite easy to overlook something like this, never know the loss of conversions too that could be experienced because something was misplaced, overlapping in a different browser etc.

Yep I test 'em. Only FF + IE + Safari, though.

Absolutely, it's always wise to test any page in multiple browsers, I learned this the hard way.

I embedded a javascript link using FF, then ran my ad believing all was well, when I checked stats only to find conversions in the toilet, I took a closer look and asked a friend to click the ad and test. He told me the link did not work in IE.

It was a quick fix (once I knew there was a problem) but it could have been devastating. Since then I alwasys test in both FF and IE, though guess I'll have to start using Chrome too.

Yes, its because sometime in diff browser my site will overlap usually in IE. IE has almost same results like Chrome or the other way around. Never have any prob with FF.

I would check out Safari (essential!) and Opera before I start worrying too much about Chrome!

    Great tip. Thanks, Magda.

We should always test our websites in several browsers. When I design a site, I test it only in Internet Explorer. Opera, and FireFox.

I only test mine in FireFox, which tends to look the same in older netscape browsers, and IE 6/7. Anything else is not worth the effort - at least for me.

I'm often too lazy to test, though I know I should.

One thing to keep in mind for those relying on sites like browsershots, though. It's one thing if a site renders correctly, it's another if it actually functions correctly--which is more important. If you have javascript on your page, there's no substitute for actually testing it live.

I do test it for Firefox and different versions of Internet Explorer; the last one makes a lot of troubles :).
This actually does not influence Google AdWords CPC as I know - the download speed does :) - but your landing page should be user friendly, otherwise users leave quickly.

If only that were true! Well, I suppose it is not far off if you only use HTML but for table-less layout in CSS, IE6 and older are a nightmare.

What would be a reason(s) as to why a landing page does not look the same in all three browsers? How could a landing page that looks fine in Firefox also look different or not functioning correctly in IE or Safari?

Absolutely... I test all my landing pages in IE8, IE7, Firefox, Chrome and Opera. If necessary i make browser based CSS files for the best performance.

Beside a technical test after launch I use Clicktale for heatmaps and AB/Multi variant testing. Don't under estimate the power of this last optimization, it can increase your conversion big time.

    Good luck

Test Firefox, chrome and IE which takes around 98% of the cake for the browsers people use. Also clicktale is an excellent tool to increase conversions. Test it out with the free trial first if you are not willing to pay the monthly subscription fee.
