wordpress and domain question

    Hi!

If i started a blog on wordpress.com,and placed a domain
    (example- www.designfuschion.com/blog)
and built up subscribers and backlinks..When it comes time
to moving off wordpress's free hosting onto paid hosting I'll be using the same domain (but on paid hosting not hosted via wordpress.com)

Can I import the blog and the will the PR remain in place?
It won't affect backlinks or anything like that?

(can same be done with blogger?..)

If this is the case..then i could have started blogging sooner !

    Thanks for answering,
    Arcanus :)

A free blog on wordpress should be xxx.wordpress.com. You could obviously set it up on your own domain name too, but you have to buy some credits too.

The links should remain same even after importing, but you may see part of your PR vanish if you do not have enough links from external sites. The point being that wordpress links to you from their tag pages, and once you shift to your own hosting, those links won't be there any longer.

    thanks gr8liverpoolfan!
I've started to set up a wordpress.com blog..decided not to bother with putting a domain on it..I'll just not really bother with any marketing as such..at least until i switch to paid hosting.

IMHO its better to have the blog on your own server/domain. its pretty cheap these days to register a domain name and hosting. i use hostgator for all my hostings...its working well.

    green rep to all.
thanks. my paypal balance is a few dollars short to pay for even 1month hosting. I have to go to bank monday to put more funds in,then send it over to paypal which will take a week..and i'm impatient..so I have started a blog temporarily as you can see.

I might just take it down, and write up several more posts and relaunch it when i get paid hosting.
I really don't like the free templates with wordpress.com. too limiting.
once again, thanks for all your input and for clarifying my questions :)
    cheers,
    arcanus :)

You could use your credit card to fund your PayPal account too ;)

Or do a few odd jobs in here ( if you are good in logo designing or writing or something like that), and you'll earn that money in no time at all.
