OMG - I Write a Novel Every Month!

You may have heard about the challenge to write a 50,000 pages of a novel in a month. Many writers participate in the competition and I think Jenn's done something similar with e-books, but I might have made that up. Another webmaster forum I participate in challenged website owners and writers to write 50,000 words of content (or code) in a month instead of a novel.

Today, only 24 days into the competition, I hit 51k and was actually pretty surprised. I still have about 13,000 words left before I can call the month complete, but I had no idea I wrote that many words. When it's all said and done, I write between 55,000 and 65,000 words EVERY MONTH. (I have a lot of monthly contracts in my niches.)

    Holy Toledo, Batman!

Have you ever tallied up exactly how much you write in a given month?

I'm thinking of becoming a novelist - why not? LOL

Hmmm, I might have to keep track of my own writing. Isn't it a weird feeling to think through how much writing you do only to realise you're effectively producing a novel a month. Perhaps publishers should actively seek out people like us, they give us the idea, we write the novel.

Woot! I can't even imagine writing that much in a month. That's like a hundred pages of text, right?

Depends on the font size too, methinks. But with 50k words a month, yeah, who's counting? LOL

Wow! I heard about that challenge, but I didn't think I could find time to do it.

I've never calculated how much I write, but it'd be neat to tally it up. I think I'd be pretty shocked to see the number of words I write each month.

I'm going to break into novel writing one of these days. I've always wanted to. I just have to make time. That and stop waiting around for story ideas to fall out of the sky.

What an interesting challenge! I remember having to write 12,500 words in one day before (and I'll never do that again), so I guess I might as well try to write a novel someday.

I remember reading about something related to this on The New Yorker. The point is that it's never too late to do what you've always wanted to do.

    But I digress. :D

Great! And, what I find is that you still get time to freak around at DP giving your valuable tips! I am all praise for you!

I know the place where the challenge was thrown, I also followed it for a while, but then huh! you people are keyboard butchers!

I'm confused first you say 50,000 pages and then you say 50,000 words, 50,000 words is not so many but pages? you gotta be kidding me.
So, which is it? There is a HUGE difference.

Sometimes I wonder how much money I'd be making if I had put all of the content I've written on to my own websites.

As for the novel thing, I'm in the process of writing a factual book and it's taking forever. You may write a novel's worth every month, but actually writing a novel or book in context is a lot different.

I am sure it's something close (especially if you're counting the
    coding and stuff)...

You're right - it should be words, not pages.
