Did you see that hologram technology on cnn election night? I was very surprised to know Mircosoft was not behind it. MS is working on some cool hi-tech gadgets right now, I wonder how much longer before the average guy can afford to invest in some. Some people still cannot afford a HD tv and those have been out for years now. Do you think MS prices are too high?

Personally I don't think Microsoft's prices are too high, I mean they aren't cheap, but I think its a fair price to pay. I think the reason why HD TV's are still so expensive is because most cable providers aren't really HD right now, once they all do people will slowly buy more, and the HD TV manufacturers will lower the price :)

Microsoft is hardly an innovator but a follower. The hologram was used in Star Wars back in 1977. We did similar things when I worked at SGI in the 1980s.

... My in laws and I were discussing the hologram technology as it relates to Star Wars recently. No doubt the movie industry affect certain type of technology we uses today.

cipals15, search youtube for microsoft technology and watch some interesting videos about the MS Surface.

SimplyMe, you can watch a video on youtube as well re the hologram technology. Search CNN Hologram TV First

Seabot, you can do the same.

For those younger lads like myself, our kids and grandkids will be living in a totally different world than what we are used to.

Microsoft hasn't lead anything, just makes money and buys out companies that do the innovation.

Yup... it is a fact that what movies predict future and sometimes it is too exact to believe. Same case is here.

Microsoft do have innovations but mostly they like to purchase existing stuff and put their label on top of it. It is businessman's approach.
