I'd say integrate the ads into the flow of the blog more. Put ads in between videos, not totally separated out.

You might want to look into youtube ads, a great addition to a site like that. The site is probably a good niche, and it looks like you're running it solidly.

Mostly just integrate the ads more into the flow of the content. Maybe put an ad between every 3rd video.

People will go into your site, watch a video or 3, and then click out to something else. If you have the ad at the top, their attention is going from top to bottom, so if you have the ads within the stuff that they're looking at, they'll probably be more likely to click on them.

Thank you both for the tips.

Austian- That is a good idea. I should make a larger banner down the right side.

PhilosophicalGamer- Also great ideas. THat is a similiar idea to Austrian, with putting a link on the side of the page to get people's attention. Good call on the Ad in between the videos. I didn't think about that. Thank you!

I will add these changes in tonight and post again when I have. Thanks again! I appreciate it.

    Remove the borders.
Try rectangle ads on the center. Besides, it is better use skyreeper on the sitewide, and dont forget to remove the title "advertisement"

I agree with trying them as gray. Give it a couple of days and see if that makes a difference. BtW the site looks great!

Try to make the ads look blend in and also change the position around. Monitor on the new changes and decide whether to stick to it. With your current low ctr, there's no harm in trying.

Hey, thanks for the further help! I really appreciate it.

lifeplayer: I will remove those borders/advertisement, thanks!

AdsenseOverdrive: I will see about that gray! Make them pop a little.

lycos: Good advice, thanks! I will try some changes tomorrow.

I wish there were 5 more hours in the day, anyone else? :) I will try these changes tomorrow. Thank you again for the suggestions. I will post again when I do so for critique round two.

    Have a good one!

I would widen the layout a bit.

For the actual video pages set it up like youtube with a 300 x250 block to the right of the video.

Put that 468 x 60 banner directly under the video.

I would do a 728 x 90 leaderboard right above the navigation tabs on all pages.

As for the front page, try putting one 468 x 60 ad in the "recently viewed" box right above the videos. and also try putting another 468 x 60 box between the first and second video in the "Featured Section" if possible.

Match the background color on the ads to the background colors of where ever you are placing them with no borders. Only ad you might want to try a border on is the 300 x 250 ad.

Im pretty positive this will increase revenue from whatever your making now.

If you need any help feel free to drop me a message.

Hey, thanks for the help everyone! I really, really appreciate it!

I tried to do some changes to the google ads, and will continue to do so.

However, I am trying some short-mid-term solutions with some other 3rd party people, as is the current banner-ad on the site.

I know it needs some help. I am having my infinitely superior graphic-design buddy help me with making it prettier.

Thanks again for the suggestions. You are all awesome and I owe you a lot.

    Have a great day!

    Internetuser27:

Instead of using a background grey, I would use something that is bright and attracts the reader to get hooked up to your site.. a web 2.0 color that makes it easy for you to brand your site effectively.. like skype blue or sky blue...

Also, the font size of the site needs to be a little bigger than normal. Its difficult to read the text.

That makes your site look better.... rep me if you like my posts..

Well, I tried to use some custom ads with a third party for a little while, but those did not draw too many people. I have a better custom ad in the works for that. Otherwise, I changed how the ad is viewed at the top of the video. Integegrated it into the page more. I will see about a large 600x160 on the right side! :)

Thanks again for all the great advice!

First, you type if its advertisement, mostly people hate to click advertisement, second you just using 1 ads in 1 page, why not put more ads after header or before content ?

Well, thanks again for all the suggestions.

I took your advice and added a skyscraper ad on the main page and had them blend in more. I ran into a little hassle with placing Google AdSense Units. See this article: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1175085

I also had the ad above the video blend in a lot more and it seems to be paying off a little more.

    Thanks so much!

Congrats internetsuser27 you've gained SOMETHING from this discussion. I've thoroughly read all the suggestions here; it was a great help and I've modified my own ad placement and formatting. But I'm not getting any good CTR so far! The website I need suggestions for is in my signature saying: SMS Messages. A few people around say that the black background is what hinders clicks. Is that the case?

I definitely add a 728x90 above the top navigation if i were you. It looks to me like you only have 2 google ad units on your site currently. Why not add a 3rd?
