Would you rather write 10 500 word articles, or 20 250 word articles?

Shorter is definitely easier if you're not an expert on the subject.

If you're going to write longer pieces, I agree with making an outline. Make one point per paragraph, and OVER PREPARE. You want to have a little more material than you need. This way you can just cut out something, or leave something out and your fine.

I find this true whenever I'm expressing ideas, whether speaking, teaching, writing, etc. It's always good to be a little over-prepared.

Depends on the amount of research on the topic I have to do really. If its a lot of research then I'll prefer writing fewer longer articles, less to no research I like writing lots of short articles

I would go for 500 words articles.
I get better SEO results by doing this.

With 500 words you may have several advantages!

well, if I ever have a choice like that I find it's much easier to write 10/500 word articles. Since you want content to be unique and if they are for only one subject it is hard to come up with 20 different topics off the top of your head without sounding repetitive at some point.

10 articles allows you to focus on specifics and literally help the reader with your information. I find small excerpts to be useful for places like Ezine where the whole idea is to click their link at the bottom of the page (not that Ezine allows articles that small anymore).

Just some food for thought anyways~

I prefer the 500-word articles. That way I get absorbed in its topics compared to 250-word ones.

Well, the shorter ones do go by faster, and if I'm getting paid the same rate, I'd be happier to take on the shorter articles. They are easier to handle after long days or when you're tired, as well.

I think its depends on the requirement, some of my sites just need to fill up content free space,
so i go for quick 250 words articles, and for some of my affiliate sites, i simply go for 500 words articles.

20 articles of 250 words would be easier to write rather than 500 words. Its psychological fact!

I find that 300 words is the magic number for article length, so I think that 15/16 300 word articles would be the best option. Its long enough to get enough information in, but not too long to bore the user. Plus you get more pages of content/pages with backlinks which is what google loves.

I think article length is irrelevent, a 250 word well written informative article is much better than a poorly written 500 word one.

I feel like I'm getting more work done when I write 250 word articles because it usually doesn't take as long. If I have a lot of information thats needed to make the article sound better than I would prefer to write 500 word articles.

It really comes down to how effective you can convey the messages through your writing. with 250 words, it is difficult to go into a lot, but it all depends on the purpose of the article. Personally I'd go for 500 word.

I always try to write at least one page. Any less usually means you either dont understand the topic or you are not covering the basics that most people require. there is always the topics that can be covered in a sentence or two, like this one :)

I think write the content and cover all the points you want to and don't worry about the word count unless you have a specific reason to.

Shorter articles are always easier to write. But it's really depend on what topic you're writing about. Don't focus to much on how many words the articles will have. The important thing is to get the message across to readers.

It is really hard for me to say. If I have good directions, solid research, and a strong understanding of the clients needs both 250 and 500 word articles are easy. If the directions or content is sketchy the 500 word articles can be a real pain in the &^%$.
