Whats the Scam with this Spam?

  1. It's no scam, just some poor spammer trying to be helpful.

I notice some messages of a type I have not seen before in my blog comments the last couple of days.

Can anyone explain what this person might be up to?

Here is a couple of examples to give you the idea.. think there have been 4 so far along same lines so far.

    Hiya Optional

These messages have spam written all over them. If I was you I would just delete and forget about them.

yes I have Askimet installed. But some of this persons messages seem to get past it... and some good comments get spammed.. so wish I didn't have to use it.

I was mainly just wondering why they seem so insistent about getting replies with what domain names people want excluded and if it was a known scam scheme of any sort.

They want your email address to spam next. Just delete these messages.

Thanks for advice all. I'm not worried about it or planning to reply. Was just interested as this approach was something I hadn't seen before, and I'm the inquisitive type :)

    Interesting to know.

And funny how this guy does not seem to use a proxy either, for these messages at least.

    How can you say so?

I have not banned ip or stuff like that but posts containing that email will not be allowed on my forum anymore and so whatever he feels like using ultimately its the post which will not be made.
