How Do I Transfer A Wordpress Blog?

Discussion in 'WordPress' started by kloop, Nov 15, 2008.

I'm trying to transfer my wordpress blog to a new domain that's on a new server. I've already tried the import/export method but some of my posts didn't transfer over and when I tried to make a post a weird error came up..

So, is there an alternate option that can easily move my Wordpress blog? I'm still learning but I've heard I could use something called a SSH OR MySql....however I have no real experience with these:confused: Is there any Transferring Wordpress For Dummies instructions online or something?

Moving WordPress to a New Server

If you are moving WordPress from one server to another, begin by backing up your data. This includes backing up your WordPress database as well as all the core files, images, plugins, and other files on your site. See WordPress Backups and Backing Up Your Database for more details.

Note: If you are changing to a new server but same domain, all you need to do is edit wp-config.php and upload everything as it is to your new server.

    Have you tried that?
