Learn How to Code a Basic Wordpress Site

    Hi Guys,

I was working with one of my clients a couple of days ago, and he asked me something interesting: "Can you teach me how to code a wordpress site?" Now he designer and knows some html and a little bit of css, enough to maybe code a template or two, but he doesn't, or I should say didn't know how to code wordpress, and since most of his designs were for wordpress, he had to get them outsourced before he could put them on his theme site.

Now, to code a wordpress site, it usually ends up costing a person anywhere between $75-$100 dollars, which is way more than you would start selling a theme for on a theme site. Sites like themeforest only sell them for $15-$35 and they take comission on that as well, so it would be a while before you get your money back unless your theme is amazing.

So basically, I told my client that I could teach him how to code wordpress, and after working with him for a couple of hours, he seemed to grasp the process of it. Now I am offering this service here.

    I will:
    1. Show You How To Set Up a Localhost Server for Testing
    2. Teach You How To Code A Basic Wordpress Theme
      • Header
      • Index
      • Sidebar
      • Footer
    3. Make Sure You Understand What Each Function Does
      • The Loop
      • The Content and Excerpt
      • The Time and Date
      • ETC...
    4. Explain Important SEO Rules to Follow When Coding Wordpress
      • Make Sure Your Post Comes First
      • Explain Importance of Using <p> over <div>, <h1>, <h2>, etc...
    5. Give You Support on Coding Themes After The Initial 5 Hours of Instruction
      • Help With Errors in Themes
      • I am available on MSN all the time

    I will not:
    1. Teach You CSS
    2. Teach You XHTML
    3. Code Your Theme for You
    4. Teach You How to do Advanced Wordpress Coding (featured posts, etc)

The price for this service will be a fee of $299, which is not a lot considering you could spend that on two themes and not get much out of it other than two completed wordpress themes. Now you should have a grasp of CSS and XHTML, mainly because that is the only way you will be able to style your theme. I mean, yes you could use tables, but do you really want thousands of posts in tables?

If you are interested in this services, you can contact me do one of the following things:
    • You can post here if you have a question, that way everyone is able to see the question. I urge you to do this, cause I don't want to have to answer the same question 5 or 10 times. If it's something personal that pertains only to you, you can of course private message me.
    • You can private message me using the forum.
    • You can email me at nickzakharyan(at)comcast.net
    • You can contact me on msn at nickzakharyan(at)comcast.net

Thank You for your Interest in this service.

    YIPKP,
    Nick

Do you really think so considering I am also gonna give you lifetime support? I mean, I guess as a review copy, I'll drop the price for the first person to 199, but I am going to be spending 5 hours teaching you. Plus, any tricks that I know that make coding wordpress faster for me, I'll tell you guys.

So, the first person to sign up will be $199 as a review copy. I really can't even afford to go lower than that because of how hard it is to teach this someone. (Technically it's not hard if the person understands coding, but it's killer if they only know a bit).

I am obviously not selling a tutorial. I am selling personal instruction. Plus, a lot of the stuff on wpdesigner is gonna be old soon as more and more updates are made to wordpress. I don't know which one he did it for, but it's 2.7 now.

For one-on-one training, $299 is a steal. I charge much more than that and do pretty well. If the thread starter knows his stuff, this is a good deal if you are starting from scratch.

Considering I'd have easily made over $10k coding purely Wordpress themes, no, it's not expensive at all.

A tutorial that is better than 1 on 1 teaching? Please.

Thanks fireflyproject, rochow. I appreciate the positive comments.

I should mention that I am also able to teach you how to do advanced wordpress coding, which is the featured posts and stuff, but that is extra and is not included in this package. If you are interested, I will be happy to give you a price for it, so please pm me.

    Thanks,
    Nick

Yeah. Matt is amazing at what he does. I can still code wordpress as fast as he can though, but his html skills are definately better. He's actually thought me a lot of little things in xhtml/css coding and is always there to help if I got a problem. Great Guy.

I am lowering the price to $149 for the next person. I bet as soon as someone posts a review of this service up, people are gonna wish they did it sooner.

As a dev I can say that $149 isn't overpriced and is worth the money. Once you have a firm grasp on the concepts involved in Wordpress Themes you could easily make this money back in the sale of just a few quality themes.

    Good Luck Hades!

    Thanks Propstm.

As a final offer, I am willing to help anyone code their own theme while teaching them to code wordpress at the same time all for the price of what it would cost you to hire a coder. This is only open to the next person who wants to do this for the next 3 days. If no one does it, I'll just close this thread.

    Regards,
    Nick

Nah, don't close it. I would be willing to take you up on the offer but have too much work going on. Next year, I would be willing. While that may not seem like a good deal to you, it does mean that there are people like me who would be willing to pay you for such a service.

See, about 5% of people who are willing to buy this understand what I am offering here. The other 95% are like bitwer, who don't understand that I actaully personally teach you to code wordpress.

Think "loosing weight." You can go to the gym by your self, and not get shit done. You know what a bench press is, you know how to do pushups and curls, but you dont do it. You get a personal trainer, and suddenly you start doing this stuff and actually losing weight.

I am offering the same thing. There are sites out there that have information on coding wordpress. I am going to teach the knowledge to you and make sure you learn it. Also, dezinerfolio is also out of date in regards to wordpress coding.

    Simply put: WHAT??

Don't sweat it Hades. As you said, most people on DP are clueless or simply cheapsters. I recently sold 40 unique 400 word articles for $90 here... They were written by a professional journalist and worth easily $300, however I had to sell it because I needed some quick funds.

Look at his signatures. He's only here for the backlinks, he didn't even read your post. A generic reply.

Oh makes sense. That really sucks about the articles though. I think I might just post this on sitepoint. I mean it'll cost me a couple of bucks, but at least, there, people appreciate this type of thing.

    Generic replyers suck lol.
