_Adsense = Thinking Small_

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by philosophy.Fool, Nov 13, 2008.

I am writing this not to steer individuals away rather to encourage a new school of thought in monetization of one's site.

    Adsense = Thinking Small.

Many are making between $xx-$2xx. Excluding the obvious big ticket earners.

Based on my own experience I see many people working on their projects between 3 - 5 hours a day. (total of 90-150hrs a month)

    Is $2xx worth 150hrs a month??

Okay just for conversation-sake let's say it is.

Why chase the small fish? When you can chase the BIG fish!

I hate to say it but you aren't going to be the next John Chow or Shoemoney by emulating, you have to be unique.

Otherwise you're just bottom-feeding. And Google absolutely LOVES bottom-feeders just as much as they love top-feeders.

I am sorry if this is a rant, as it's not supposed to be.

This thought has been brewing after analyzing many successful men, personally.

    To conclude - Think BIG.

problem is that there are so many people in the game but only so many good ideas out there. so it's natural - there are a few big players and a whole load of bottom feeders... life's like that.

some of course are doing it part-time or as a hobby... :)

    And, . . . . . . . . . do what? (Whoops - too slow - this post was meant to be #2.)
I have wasted many hours on useless affiliate sites, and PPAs.
AdSense WORKS! I have not found anything else that does.

    Yes you are correct.

    Nevertheless I will, respectfully:), disagree.

Ideas are infinite. Emulation is easy.

I have sympathy for the individuals who spend countless hours on their project to only see a $3 click and get excited.

Their mind is then accustomed to that extremely low payout. Thus resulting in a permanent psychological mentality towards earning values.

edit: @surfdude: Why ask me what to do? I am not your mind? I am simply the individual trying to spark an idea or a new train of thought.

Adsense is a good system to have in place on a website as you grow that website... when you start to get much larger audiences on a regular basis then you do have to think beyond adsense and think about improving your ROI (time versus income).

Adsense isn't a perfect system to make huge gains, but it is a perfectly good residual method of earning at least some income. People who limit their thoughts to only earning via adsense will continue to bottom-feed and will always struggle to break free from the main crowd and establish themselves.

I just thought that you might have something in mind, when you say "Think Big". "Big" is a relative term.

Are you referring to $xxxx per day? My $xxx per day is pretty good.

Ganceann: You have really hit the nail on the head there!

I congratulate you on that, as many do not seem to understand such a basic concept.

If people can understand this, I believe we will see a new generation of webmasters. I know this seems a bit out-there, but I am tired of individuals making MFAs and thinking they'll make "money".

You only have to throw for mullet once if you know what you're doing. :)

Surf Dude: if you are making $xxx+ per day then you are clearly above the norm (according to the figures given in original post).

    Sure there are many tips.

Find out what was working and what was not working on the site and move from there.

    Try a new niche.

Promote / Advertise your project better.

Just a few general things off the topic of my head :)

The key to mullet fishing is knowing where they're going to go when the net hits the water.
Learn to anticipate the mullets next move, and throw your net ahead of them.

I have to admit, when it comes to adsense, I often feel like I am working a lot for a very little, but on the plus side what you do make is fully residual income

Adsense is the net, your audience is the mullet.

You can know everything there is to know about Adsense, but if you don't know what the mullet are going to do that knowledge is completely useless.

Learn about your audience, and everything you need to know about Adsense will come naturally. :)

Is selling all your signature links for a lifetime payout of $20 "thinking big" ?

If you're spending 150 hours a month and only earning $200 - you...

    a) haven't created the right site.
    b) you haven't given it enough time.
    c) both.

There are a lot of people earning $xxxx a day with adsense - but it didn't happen overnight and not without a lot of work.

The fact is everybody has to start somewhere. Initially earnings would be low and not justifiable by the amount of hours put in. However, you are right to say that those who are really successful are those who aim to be unique.

I see people knocking adsense but no one else is giving ideas. I actually do a lot better with adsense the affiliate programs. Not sure if I am not marketing them right, but what are some of the other ways to stretch income from your sites?

    Sell advertising (time consuming)
Link to other similar sites that you create with more ads and adsense (working for me)
    Create a product (time consuming)

    Any other ideas?
