    craigslist is a prime example of how the website astetics itself can suck but yet attracts more visitors than it should. I know that content is key, but I just can't get over how crappy of a website it really is.

    Furthermore, they add a nofollow attribute to any inserted links so that no one can gain from SEO off their site.

    Craigslist is really basic, however, they were smart enough to realize that having simple code and rich keywords would please the almighty search engines. What is a "good looking website" in the publics eye and what is a "good looking website" in the search engine spiders eyes are two different things.
    If search engine traffic is what you want, then you must give the search engines what they want.
