My car crash story.

So during the summer, some of my friends and I decided to go camping. The camp site we chose to camp at was at a lake 6 miles away from the main highway, down a windy dirt road. The second day in to camping we decided to drive down to the more sophisticated campground up the highway a bit because that one had a general store and we needed some stuff. Somehow one of the hydraulic pumps that keep my trunk open came off of the car and stuck up into the back window. It wasn't enough to break the window just then, but it was enough to make the glass seriously unstable. And it kept the trunk open. I noticed that the trunk hadn't closed all the way, because the "Trunk Open" light on my dashboard was flickering every time we went over a bump (which was every second, of course). So, I had my friend in the back seat reach back and try to shut the trunk. He reaches his hand back... lifts up on the window... and instantly the entire window shattered all over his hand. Holy crap. Glass was every where. It was pretty much insane. After we got done cleaning up the bulk of the glass, we continued to the general store and scored some free cardboard, and duct taped up my back window. Good as new! ...ish.

Needless to say, because we didn't realize how stupid we we're, we decided to go down the dirt road back to camp going 50 miles per hour. Drifting around corners, kicking up dust... we we're living the life. Both my friend and I had been swimming, so we're both soaked, in nothing but our shorts, not buckled in. Until I when around one corner and over corrected just barely. We went flying off the edge of the cliff. Both of us look at each other as we go down and just say calmly, at the same time, with looks of terror in our eyes.. "Oh, shit." Okay, fine, it wasn't a cliff, but if we hadn't stopped, it would have been. So, it still was pretty freaking scary. We almost died.

So, we spent the next couple hours trying to get my car back onto the road. Our other car didn't have four wheel drive, so when we hooked it up and tried to drag my car with it, it just dug into the dirt road. Finally someone drove by that had four wheel drive and they helped us get the car out. We sat there looking at my car, knowing that it was toast. It had been sitting directly on the HUGE rock, and we all knew that the axle just had to be broken, or at least something. So, I started it up, and it ran! WTH? Does my car actually work?! Yes! I was able to drive it all the way back to camp. And even back home when we were done camping! I had it checked out by a mechanic, and they said it was in great condition. Just a bit of body damage. So my friends and I got to talking. We decided that my car would now be referred to as The Tank, and we decided to spray paint it flat black.

That's why I love it. Because it's not like a fancy car or anything. I don't keep very good care of it, but I don't have to. It's not like it's a human or anything, and anything I do to it, it can handle. It's the perfect beater car. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

For the some reason the way you stand on the car, and your story made me think of Jebediah Springfield from The Simpsons.
