Hello, I have a host name like this: ns20.somename.com How can I find the IP of this host? Also how can I find which other domains are hosted on that IP/host? Any tutorials or codes are most appreciated. Note I am not hosted on that hostname, so cannot access $_SERVER etc... Thanks
easy! ping the name server From a windows PC command prompt ... ping ns20.somename.com There are various tools on the net that claim to find how many doamins are hosted on an IP or server, all of them are inaccurate. on one of my server, they were out by 25 - 50%
What you are asking doesn't make sense. The nameserver you seem to be interested in, isn't likely to be hosting any sites - just holding records for IP to domain name information. To answer your question... go to sites like http://network-tools.com/ or http://dnscoop.com ... that would be the easy way to look up information you are looking for. But there are bundles of options.
I found a site like this it is called www.myipneighbors.com/ but I can never spell the domain right, lol its too long, So I found another one called http://www.yougetsignal.com/ alot easier to type & remember but both of which seem to not always have the same results as eachother.
They dont agree because both are wrong These types of sites never seem to grab domains that are not com/net/org if 1/2 the domains are .cn .uk .es etc its going to out by miles
I wanted to do this using PHP. I cannot use ping there because EXEC and system is blocked. Any other way to find IP? Sorry for posting a nameserver, it could be just a normal domain name as well. Ex: something.com Now I need to find IP and also list other domains/subdomains that are hosted on that server. The data need not be very accurate, but I need some list of some kind to know which other sites are on that server. If exec is needed to find this, then I can talk to my webhost to allow this, but if there's another way, that would be best. Thanks
Hi, Thanks for that. I think for the second thing I wanted is: http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.dns-get-record.php Doesn't work on my php installation though... Thanks
