A couple of sites I have done. http://www.thefanart.com Designed more for people that do all creatives relating to fan art, beyond just drawing. http://www.inkordie.com This one was an interesting concept. It was targeted at tattoo artists themselves, as opposed to just random peoples tattoo pictures. Both of these sites are heavily designed for their intended audience. Though the content is thin as I am still testing them. I was looking at opinions on usability. Do you think everything is clear and to the point? Do you get the idea of what the site is about when you first enter? I am not too concerned with alignment/image issues, more in the actual functionality. Note that the pages should have at min 12 pics. And that sidebars would flow along with the content as more was posted. And while these are both based on the same script, they have been modified heavily as far as user options (profiles, submission forms etc).
Thefanar - the graphical design is good but you must fill out that empty spaces in pages and for usability reasons you can make your logo to point to your main domain thefanart-dot-com. Also you can use a little bit darker color for right column so the main content and the menus can be separated. Thats is from me, hope it help!
Yeah i have about 20 sites running off of MT GS. Very Very slow, the last month. Thanks alot for the tips, I will actually be doing that.
The site load time is slow, it seems to be the server. I do like the layout and look a lot. I'm a fan of the notepad/pencil and paper look, and I don't see many sites that pull it off properly. Yours seems to have done it right.
It takes a while to load both of them. But after that you see two great sites describing a very interesting topic and having good design. Please add more information
I like the ink website best. The bright background with grey text make it somewhat difficult to read on the fan art site. Interesting tattoo niche btw
I like the design. I agree with what JLamb has said about the white background/gray text being hard to read on the fan art site. I also think you should change the color of the links on the tattoo site - maybe some brighter color? I'm not sure if you plan on leaving the big image that says "TATTOO ARTIST SHOWCASE REGISTER NOW FREE" as it is, but it's really ugly and hard to read. It would be better is you used an Adsense block like you did on the fan art site.
Glad you mentioned that as I was unsure of the black bg/grey. And yeah that big ugly register image as well as the middle image are placeholders for adsense blocks.
Sadly, I have no more time to work on these projects. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I will have to sell these sites. Thanks to everyone that provided feedback. Rep was added to all.
not bad i like the pencil favicon looks pretty good on home page, you need to tell people what to do, im not sure what to do alls i see is test, test, test with same image i would put images of each fan art to make it look more exciting, the images are all the same test, test, = boring black belt bob
