Building email lists

So I have a few niche sites that get decent traffic and I'd like to add some forms to collect emails and build an email list.

I've never done much with email before, so this is quite new. But the plan is pretty simple. Collect emails to be able to send out some affiliate links, sponsored ads, and just links to new articles and increase traffic and revenue.

So whats the best email service to use for this?
I've heard about constantcontact.com, anyone using it?

I use aweber and get fantastic deliverability (based on my 60% open rates) so I'd say spend the little but extra on a provider with a good reputation with the ESPs so that you actually get the emails into the inbox.

I use Aweber and I am very happy with their service.Building a list is extremely important, you need to have a really valuable freebie so people will join your list.

I use Aweber with great success, their track record is impeccable and the user interface is easy to understand and follow. It will be well worth the extra cost for using this service.

I think this is the first time I see this service. Personally I am using GetResponse. They have some of the best prices and service. The second recommended email service is Aweber also used by millions of internet marketers online.

I use aWeber, but how do I upload my list from a previous email autorepsonder company? These people opted in previously, but didn't through aWeber so I don't think I can import them.

I would suggest using Aweber, that is what I use for my newsletter. I wrote a post about this http://www.fourthfloormarketing.com/2008/11/04/the-report-is-up-aweber-triumphant/

which has to do with the creation of my newsletter a few days back, it worked out for me great so far. Nearly 10 opt-in subscribers per day.

I have heard that the top two for email list is getresponse and awber. I personally use getresponse and have been quite happy, its easy to use and not too expensive.

I've been using iContact but I hear Aweber is all the rage.

Why getresponse does not interest me: I'm subscribed to some people who use it and just pass on most of their emails and have unsubscribed. It's not consumer friendly I don't think.

    That's just me.
