    Hi,

    I have a site http://www.pngbd.com

This site offers a wealth of knowledge on Papua New Guinea which is a country.

It has a PR5 ranking, but is located on Page 3 of Google below sites with lower rankings?

Anyone tell me where I am going wrong here?

    Very frustrating.

How can I earn more money from this site with Adsense. Any ideas are welcomed.

it's because you site's content is not as original and unique as the sites that are above your site. Add more unique and orginal content and hopefully you'll be first on Google.

On 3rd page for what keywords? Try creating some quality links with the exact anchor text you want to rank better. The page rank itself won't rank you...
Btw very nice, content-rich site, like it as I am in the travel niche as well :)

mzonas is right - rewrite better the content, so that there are no phrases found on other sites. I mean no more than 2-3 subsequent words!

Well "Papua New Guinea" is a pretty competitive phrase, so you'll need many and quality links with this anchor.
Try combining it with 1 more word people are likely to use in their search. For example "Papua New Guinea Tourism", "Papua New Guinea Resorts", "Papua New Guinea tourist attractions", etc...

Usually I start building links for such longer phrases, once the site have decent rankings for them I concentrate on the name of the country itself.

It is the most original of the lot.

I did it and I didn't copy anything.

We have forum, thousands of photos, stock exchange, flight schedule.

We are the best site on Papua New Guinea by far and nowhere near the top of Google.

It depends on keywords. There are certain keywords which you will find your site at lower se ranking even though your argument is that you have high PR. Have you also consider improving your internal links between pages. That is also important.

The "top guy" is wikipedia.org :)
I would consider it great success if I am able to reach the first 5-6-7 results for such phrase (Papua New Guinea).
Suggest you to combine the name with other words that attract attention/searches. You are on 3rd place for "Papua New Guinea tourism" which is not bad at all and you should have decent traffic.

Its a numbers game, who ever has the most quality links wins. Don't worry about the keywords on the site just get more links with variations of the keyword you are sniping

I see you on # 21 out of 58 million+ pages, not bad so far. The easiest and fastest way for better rankings would be to change your title. It's quite long:
<title>"Papua New Guinea - Papua New Guinea,Tourism, Business Directory, Flight schedules,Tourism,Forum,Photos"</title>

<title>Papua New Guinea - Tourism information on Papua New Guinea</title> would give you a good boost in the SERP position.

PageRank is just a small factor. Heck, I have a PR7 site that's not in the top 1000 terms for "Papua New Guinea", because it's not meant to. PR helps, but it isn't everything.

Yeah, not those. Those are just taking up space.

    Some small suggestions:
-- As others have said, mix in more internal links in your text.
-- Do a bit of PR sculpting. Nofollow some less important links (like the Unix Web Hosting link in your footer).
-- Maybe change some of the "home" links to "Papua New Guinea". It can look a bit spammy if done incorrectly, but it's worth considering.

Search engines considers many factors for a site's ranking in the SERPs for a particular keyword. Pagerank is only one of them. Age of the website and keyword density are also considered. There are also many other factors that the search engines do not disclose.

The best thing you can do is keep building links as others have said.

BTW, you have mentioned the exact phrase 'Papua New Guinea" in your meta keywords twice. I don't know if it has a negative effect.
