Not sure if Yahoo checks for spelling but you may want to -

It will be interesting to see if they accept your site what effect it has on your serps.

nima, have u see the changes? i mean your site traffic from Yahoo Search after you bought the listing ?

 

i just bought it couple days ago, havnet got a confirmation yet

 

i received an email today that said they have accepted my listing and the listing should appear in 2 to 4 days.

I obviously am not hoping for (any) immediate effects. But i have been running various campaigns for my website along side the Yahoo director submission

Hopefully I will start seeing return on my investments after 3 months or so

 

Funny we were just thinking about doing this. Let us know how the results are for you. Everyone I hear from says Yahoo Directory is the place to be, along with Business.com, BOTW, and JoeAnt.

 

I think spending 300 $ is not worth as far as Y! directory in concerned ..You will not get any traffic , also higher positions in yahoo will not do for your businesses..

 

If i wer in your place ..I would buy some quality links or advertise permanently in related websites..

 

Yeah I would have to agree on that, 300 USD isn't nothing these days (especially with the current economical crisis going on etc).

Congrats on your Yahoo dir listing...I would be interested to see any stats of traffic or backlinks that you obtain after being listed. I have been considering listing a site of mine there for some time but have backed off because of the price. But if it gives SEO benefit then it will be worth the $299 price tag.

 

My site wasn't even listed in yahoo search (i'm not sure why). I get very high rankings from Google and the site has been online for over 3 years.

I mainly got the Yahoo listing for higher exposure and the traffic that I might get from Yahoo search engine (I don't think the directory itself will send much direct traffic back).

I sort of put SEO aside and have decided to simple make the website better, and do a better job of marketing/advertising to targeted traffic. However, it is always good to get better rankings too.

Also, until recently I was doing random site updates so I didn't want to submit the site to Y! directory before being completely done with coding and improvements (and I strongly suggest the same to everyone else).

$299/year might be a large amount but I only need 6 new customers as result of Y! directory listing to justify that. So whether it is worth it or not to get the listing highly depends on what product/service your site is offering and the profit per item sold.

 

Yeah it will take months before we see any effect, if any. but I will keep an eye on this post.

No, they may not be copyrighted, but in some jurisdictions people have a right to the use of their likeness. It's not purely an intellectual property issue, so you might want to consult with a lawyer. Or it might work out cheaper to redesign that image.

 

Why is it one of the best investments? Do you really get link juice from it?... Traffic?
