"Cost" of giving red reputation to someone is -1

I don't think these people ever give reds to anyone.
Nintendo doesn't give any reps at all arrrgggg bahhhh gggrrrrrrrrr

 

I have been here since Shawn set this forum up, and I think I have given less than 5 red reps. I know I have given 3, but can't think of any more.

I did most of my reping before the changes. Then we got banned from 'abusing' the rep system. Which of course was the reason 90% of us used the rep system...to green rep all our buddies and red rep all the Amits. (That was why anthonycea left the first time!!!) And we all know that any thing the wacko uses...is abused!!! Heck, only da Wacko has got Shawn to mention that you can get banned or not be able to use the recent blog, Listening to, signature, reputation, iTrader....for abusing them!!

er Shawn, can we open up the dead Gallery so we can add that to the list!! Oh, wait...I got two photos deleted for...

 

The present rep system is wonderful. Give Respect... take Respect. Give Red...Take Red. Why at all we should give bad rep to bad people. If not today oneday bad people will learn how to be good. Till that time we must tolerate bad elements.

Sorry, Media, didn't mean it to sound like I meant you (or anyone at DP), was referring to rating abuse on boards in general. I've been to a few boards over the years where there was rating wars going on and people formed small groups that found it funny to red rep a person to death for no reason. (And no, I wasn't the one red repped. I wasn't even a member on those forums, just reading as a guest.)

Rep is useless now. We have a trader rating system here so what's the point of rep? No one gives out red rep anymore and I have not gotten a single green rep either. Heck I bet I would have gotten red rep for this post before the changes...

Because it adds green/red decorum to the forums.
Seriously, it explains the basic nature of the person you are talking to.
People still give out rep, but now its less being abused.

 

I agree with Webby. In the normal run of things rep doesn't matter, but if there is a particularly deep seo thread, then newbies need to know who is who, and what others on the forum think about the person shipping out the advice.

 

Yeah but guys...no one has a red rep anymore. So you either have lots of green rep or only a little green rep. That imho doesn't mean much of a difference. Those that used to have a red rep you would easily know that they were disliked or untrusted. Now I don't see red rep members here. Red rep wasn't abused nearly as much as you think. New members couldn't really dole out much before there rep giveouts were grey. Old members should be able to red rep members without losing rep to do so.

Anyways I still stand by my statement that rep should be removed totally now. What's the use if there is no one with a bad rep?

As for decorum...this forums is green enough don't you think?
