I don't think there main purpose is to data harvest lol, remember myhpf are probably making a fraction of a cent on each search, if you times that by the (approx) 10 million searches there members do every month, thats whats in it for them.

The reason why Yahoo! are paying?
    - Well it's pretty common knowledge that Yahoo! are stuggling - there market share is falling as are there profits - so this is an inventive way of teasing back there market share .. i for instance always used google and would never dream of using yahoo as i thought they were rubbish .. now though i dont think there that bad and overall there search is comparable to google

Like i said above, i guess as part of there contract they are recieving a set value per search from Yahoo!, what ever they don't give to us they keep.

Well I've made about $200 to date with them, so its no gimmick to me, but of course it's up to you.

This is part of there cashback shopping that is just coming online ( For UK users at the moment), basically you will get a %age comission back whenever you buy something through there shopping search system (it's a little like Kelkoo/pricerunner), they of course will only be able to do this by linking up with affiliate networks such as CJ.com etc

Sorry for the HUUUGE post, but i hope that answers everyones questions :)

I have created a comprehensive guide on all areas of the program at:

I wrote all that as an answer. Someone wanted to know why they are giving free money for searches. They are not doing a community service of any kind. They are business people and they have plans to earn a lot more than what they spend.

There's no limit as such, but you should only be searching as you normally would, which in effect limits your searches anyway.
Basically anything above 80 searches a day is going to begin to look suspicious - if you are searching above this number and they are legitimate searches- lets say your a researcher, then contact them and tell them of you high usage habbits.

There is no limit if your doing legit searches but if your doing worthless searches just for adding to your funds then you wont get credited an example of this would be putting domains though the search.

Seems like they already have nearly 300,000 users. I made a few legit searches yesterday. Will let you guys know how much I earned out of those searches. The problem is, I'm so habitual of using Google sometimes I forget to use their service lol.

I guess, the earnings per search are not that good, but since its free money, I guess its just all right. Here are the stats for yesterday:

    Date: 02 Nov 2008
    Number of Searches: 7
    Revenue: £0.05

Just another question, is the revenue subjective to the topic users search? I mean, if we search for terms like insurance, mortgage or similar expenssive keywords, do we get paid more? OR is it just same price per search regardless of what you search?

    Andy.

It should be a flat rate, although this rate does seem to vary from user to user, for instance im getting just over 2 pence per search
