    Hi from South Africa,
I use Websitegrader to get info on my blog. I was listed with DMOZ for three months and then suddenly last month I was not. Is this common? And what can you do about it?
    Cheers

Have you searched in DMOZ for your blog with your URL?

I have just discovered recently that if you append www.domain.com to the URL it will show it doesnt exist, but if you remove it and search for just domain.com it will show up.

    Alan,

Is the blog you are speaking of your homepage? It takes a very long time to complete its initial page loading when viewed here in Dallas. This may be the cause of its (possibly temporary) removal from the ODP.

DMOZ has an automated link checker that constantly cruises the Directory. Those links which are unresponsive or otherwise don't meet its criteria are moved offline into an "Unreviewed" status and tagged with an error. The sites must then be manually checked by an editor before being restored to the public directory.

If your site was accepted into the ODP it could well have been automatically removed and be awaiting editing. If it was removed and re-listed more than once the editor may well have deleted it as unreliable.

My suggestion is that you shorten your homepage by at least half its content - move it to a second page - and then submit an update request to DMOZ mentioning your attention to improving loading times.

As it was listed once it is likely to be re-listed in time.

    Cheers!

    Dennis

Have you ever submitted your site to the ODP ?

Don't believe sites like websitegrader when it says your listed in dmoz, I have sites in dmoz that do not show up in websitegrader, and sites not in dmoz that do..

Best to check dmoz yourself, but if you never submitted your site, then chances are it's not there..

If it's the site in your profile, it's never been listed.

It's also possibly that your site was simply removed..
