    Hi,

I've received a warning a few times on my sitemaps, which were created using this website: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

The warning from Google Webmaster Tools is this:

Any idea whats causing this, and how I go about changing it?

    Thanks for any help

You need to change the priority of one or more of the urls in the site map.. you can do this using a text editor.

If you can't get your sitemap generator to intelligently calculate priorities or leave the priorities value out, then you will have to fix it yourself.

You may want to check this XML sitemap priorities article.

XML-Sitemaps.com lets you leave the priorites out if you want them to. Try regenerating your sitemap there and that will get rid of the Google error. Or as Thomas suggested, alter the priorites manually.

I'm guessing you have a small site as I've never had a problem there. Their auto priority is based on the links depth of your pages but if all your pages are linked from your homepage then I guess the priority would be same for all those pages

Thank you for this explanation about setting priorities in sitemaps. I'm using Rapidweaver for my site and the sitemap plugin, but I had left all the priorities at zero, but now anymore, now I have to wait and see if it makes any difference.

The tool at http://www.xml-sitemaps.com has the automatic priority setting option and set the option at "automatic priority" so that your sites priority are calculated and set automatically and you no longer get any warning from google.

When you don't using a xml site map generator , just take the entire code and copy and paste it to editor like ultraedit. Then change the priority for some of the pages , save it and upload it to server. in webmaster tools , resubmit the sitemap. That should fix the problem.

    Good luck.

Change Priority to default 0,5. Then change the priority of the most important links

don't take same priority in sitemap for all url because google can't define which page is important for visitor so we give high priority to some url then next priority to other url then next some url give low priority.
