I started a blog 6 months back hoping to earn some money. Eventually I failed like so many other bloggers. But this failure taught me good lessons about what to do and what not...to become a professional blogger. If you want to become a professional blogger, You need to be aware of some bloggy stuffs (which some people think is not necessary). * select a good service (website) that provides you to blog for free (Recommended blogger.com, wordpress.com,...) *Determine a theme (you should be able to give articles continuously on the theme you choose) * Improve your writing skills as you blog * Try to generate decent traffic ( find out some information on * social bookmarking (digg, stumbleupon, delicious, technorati...) * press release * Website that is dedicated for bloggers (bloglog, blogcatalog.....) * SEO (to get good ranking in search engines) * Forums * RSS * Visit other people's blog and give your genuine comments. * Reciprocal linking And the next very important thing is...a blogger should know few psychological points....also they need to have patience which is very very important. * Whatever happens maintain Consistency * For the first three months you need to be extra careful, because most of the people quit blogging within the first three months. * Make friendship with your fellow bloggers. * Keep yourself happy and motivate yourself each and everyday. * Teach others who are interested in blogging....believe me this will help you very much to grow as good blogger. I'm looking forward to get more tips from you Thankyou happy blogger DPJ.
The only way to attract constant traffic is to keeping updating the blog as often as possible. Successful bloggers go up to the extent of updating their blog at least 3 times a day.
yes I aggree with lycos and I want to add something to "updating at least three times a day" : the posts must be genuine. It is very important.
Well, I disagree with you on selecting a "free" service because Wordpress.com blogs don't allow you to display ads. Also, instead of "theme" you must mean "niche?" Well, you don't have to have a specific niche blog to make money online. I have a generic blog in which I talk about the topics I love which is a wide variety of things and I make a pretty decent amount from it. You should also mention that if you're going to be a professional blogger, then you shouldn't jump into the MMO niche. You have a better shot outside of it. But if you are serious about it, let me know and I'll be willing to help. You can check out my blog and use my contact form on there if you want to get in touch with me.
@ turbulence, thank you man Yeah...as WhoJayBe, said...jumping in to the MMO niche... is the mistake most of the bloggers make.
Truly nice tips, but I strongly disagree about a free domain! Also Someone mentioned to make up to 3 posts a day: Well those so called successful bloggers have tons of visitors who are most likely to read those 3 or more posts a day. So the best I think is to blog 5 or 6 times a week or 1 post a day is just wonderful for the beginners. Also growing your comments is a great plus. Conclusion: It is better to rank one post well and get up to 7-15 comments than half "ranked" 3 post without any comments .
DPJ another way to get people to visit your blog is to Guest Blog on other similar blogs And I definetelly agree on getting your OWN domain and hosting !! Would you be interested in Guest Blogging for GeoLand ? See my post about it http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=9662068
On top of that, I did a minor study and it's not necessary to post a couple times a day or even every single day at that. I barely post 5 times a week but I still managed to gain over 500 subscribers. And a close friend of mine posts twice a week and has over 10,000+ subscribers. So, do you need to blog every single day to be considered a successful blogger? Definitely not.
i am just a beginner in blogging..just 2 weeks and i got 3 posts, got just 5 comments...its easy to get demotivated..i found the tips very useful, mine does nt cocentrate on a specific niche,so i as read in my articles i thought of starting a new one single topic, having read post and replies ..i think i will wait to see if mine will click....thanks...for all tips...lookin fwd for more..
Hi neets, i'm glad you liked those tips And wish you good luck for all your blog projects. Keep one thing in mind.....all you do to achieve one simple thing (not really simple)...TRAFFIC....TRAFFIC....TRAFFIC...so keep that in mind and do your job constantly. QUALITY CONTENT > TRAFFIC > MONEY > YOUR SUCCESS
Some people concentrate more on traffic and forget about the content (article)!! Anybody has a say on this?? SEO is very very important to drive traffic...so...i'm looking forward to get some tips on Search Engine Optimization

@lastbutnotleast But....... publishing posts regularly is very important to drive traffic and returning viewers
Yep ! But what do you do with your blog if you do not inform people that it exists (promotion) and if you do not have any backlink (SEO)?
