    Write what make sense.

In terms of SEO what you would need to know is at what point if your page is being crawled does the algorithm simply say it's seen enough of your page.

It's my belief (At the only real facts come from the guys writing the Algorithms) that a post should not exceed 1,000 characters. But who knows for sure?

I try to keep things "above the fold", and limit scrolling for my readers to a minimum.

It depends on your personality and your blog. Dosh Dosh writes extremely in-depth posts, while Boing Boing's posts are usually no longer than a few paragraphs. However, both of these blogs are in the Technorati 100 because they have found an approach that works well for their goals and target audience.

From a average reader's view point, 150-200 words is suggested.
Also, refrain from the use of long, winding paragraphs.

Use bullet list or numbered list, tables etc. to present the content more attractively.

And if you're aiming on tight SEO, make sure you increase the keyword density with your posts.

250 words and above would be ok as long as you have inserted all the important and helpful topics on your article.

as far as search engine optimization for Google Yahoo and MSN is concerned Google crawl your webpages every two days whenever the search engine robots come out they start to spider the metadata behind your website.

As far as a blog post is concerned you need to write niche content you can write up to 1000 characters it won't hurt your ranking as far as blog posts are concerned.

The fastest way to get Google to index your webpages by using blogs such as WordPress or blogger to increase the page rank or traffic coming into your website is to write shorter blog post but targeting or focusing on niche factor this niche factor based on metadata and men attending is known as keyword density or long tail keyword phrases more information can be found by PM me.........any kudos or green lights would be well appreciated:)

There's no specific limit of words in posting an article in a blog. Post length doesn't matter too much. Just make your content interesting and useful to attract more visitors to keep on visiting on your blog.

the shorter the blog or the key words or phrases in that blog post the better. But if you're writing about a niche factor such as products and services about your niche that you are working on then writing up to 1000 words would be unique as long as you have longtailed key phrases within the search engine boosting words

If the post needs to be big, let it be.

The idea is for the reader to get what he wants, and if a 2000 word essay is what he is looking for, do it.

Ensure that you divide them into neat paragraphs. Makes for easier reading.
