HOLD THE PHONE! I think myst729 is on to something here. You originally said you were having this issue with your blog not showing up, and as you didn't provide a reference, I surmised from your other info here your blog was mybloglog.com/buzz/community/tech43 -- there are no issues if one hits that first. HOWEVER: I think this is your issue: relative universals. In your markup you have this: <link rel='shortcut icon' type='image/ico' href='/favicon.ico' /> Code (markup): href='/favicon.ico' means "From the root on down", and that obviously depends upon what the root is. Give this a fully quallified URL from http:// on down an let us know if you haven't sorted it out with that. Honestly, we're all taking stabs in the dark until you give us some solid info to go on here.
o boyi.... i think people here are really getting confused....i am sorry for this let me re-narrate my problem.here it goes : I am talking about this blog : www.tech43.net The favicon was showing perfectly couple of days earlier.i was using a "PNG" format favicon not an "ICO" format. But then suddenly the favicon is not showing up,instead this is showing (the blogger favicon). Now on advise i have tried the "ICO" format too,but the problem still presists. i am getting no clues these are the two codes i have in the header : <link href='http://callmeminty.googlepages.com/favicon.ico' rel='icon'/> <link href='http://callmeminty.googlepages.com/favicon.ico' rel='shortcut icon'/> Code (markup):
Thanks, that clarifies things! Here's your problem: <link href='http://callmeminty.googlepages.com/favicon.ico' rel='icon'/> <link href='http://callmeminty.googlepages.com/favicon.ico' rel='shortcut icon'/> <meta content='BYrTL31fujcHdApH5iVCP5L4utlUOu8P/EDoIr6YsYQ=' name='verify-v1'/> <meta content='AYeE4Qyn4ojm0+qqG4RaAxEd7lbVMtiHWUs1RQgtsDg=' name='verify-v1'/> <meta content='9BC8907108' name='blogcatalog'/> <META content='Gadgets,Gizmoz,Laptops,Mobiles,Technology,Comics,Dell,Lenovo,iPhone,Players,Concept' name='keywords'></META> <meta content='text/html; charset=UTF-8' http-equiv='Content-Type'/> <meta content='true' name='MSSmartTagsPreventParsing'/> <meta content='blogger' name='generator'/> <link href='http://www.blogger.com/favicon.ico' rel='icon' type='image/vnd.microsoft.icon'/> Code (markup): Note that last favicon link It's trumping the ones above.
Interesting. Here is another report of the same behavior: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=9645585#post9645585 Has the hallmarks of a pattern brewing that would suggest that Blogger.com is overriding favicons. If that is the case, then I'd suggest this is a good point at which to evaluate whether you should go to WordPress.org as your blog application -- so you have total control overy your blog presence.
Well, I think you are just on the cusp of breaking some news here. That is, it looks like Blogger.com is overriding favicons -- though it's a bit rash to jump to that conclusion quite yet. I don't work with Blogger.com, as I like total control ( "Mu wha ha ha haaa!"), so I'm all about WordPress.org. Here's how you can help everyone including yourself: Show us what meta tags you can control. I'm going to guess that in your Blogger.com admin you don't see the Blogger.com link to favicon but you only see your custom tags. And if that's the case, I don't expect there is much you can do.
