There is a company that told me they can deliver Position 1 rankings for 3 of my keywords. They gave this as a guarantee. Is this possible, and how is it they can do that and guarantee it?
No company should guarantee that. My company can deliver position 1 ranking. You will only pay if the target is reached. So it's just like a guarantee
Sure they can, but they can do that with payed backlinks,but ones you pay them for getting this keywords to the first place in google they will no longer found the backlinks and you can say bye to SERPs. You need to get the detailed report on how they plan to do that.

Depends on how competitive your keywords are and how much they are planning to charge! you will be surprised some times it is very easy.
Unless you get a really lucky niche keyphrase find during your research process, 9.9 out of 10 times if a keyphrase is low competition, it's also low search volume. And even with low competition keywords, any type of guarantee like that is unprofessional, unqualified, and intentionally misleading.
Depends. When you say "Position 1 ranking", do you mean a position on page 1? Or the very first position on page 1? If your keywords are: "lose weight".... or "get rich" or "real estate" well.....if they can guarantee the first result of the first page, tell me privately and I will have them do: "invest in Brooklyn Bridge" as my keyword! If they mean the first page (one of the first 10 results), that's still hard to believe for those words. But, what are your keywords, really? As Red Virus said, it may be a phrase that's not very fought over, so it may be doable. Small businesses are at somewhat of an advantage with this, since their geographic modifiers, if used right, reduce keyword competition to a more manageable level. Which is easier to fight for - 'nightclub' or 'nightclub Reno NV'?
