2500 Directory Submissions Question

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by awesomeseating, Oct 23, 2008.

I have 2500 directory submissions done last week to my PR3 - 9yr old website.

    250+250+2000 = 2500 ( all to good directories )

Will this be beneficial or hurt my site for trying to increase backlinks to the homepage.

    THanks. :)

That's fine. 2500 submissions will take a lot of time to get approved and indexed by SEs. The only case it might hurt you is if you used only one title for all submissions.

That's a lot of backlinks in one week. Would that look 'natural' to Google? 9 years with xx backlinks and then suddenly like 2500. Even if only 10% are approved that's a pretty big spike all at once. Please let us know the results as it should be very interesting to see.

I don't think it will cause any problem as some websites will take 1 month or so to approve. As long as they are quality directories no need to worry

Google won't penalize you for getting too many links too fast, if that were the case, then any competitor could mass submit your website URL to thousands of directories in an effort to sabotage your search engine ranking.

With that said, Google Won't reward you either

Directory links are pretty much useless for passing link juice now-a-days, however you might manage to get some traffic from the directories themselves (although I wouldn't expect much)

You need to build your links up slowly and steadily with quality themed links that are relevant to your website,

1 high quality link will be more effective that 1,000 random directory links

True 1 quality per day is the best.
But also on the other hand if you can add natural steady amount of directory backlink with several different title is also good.

The relative category is important to get benefits from directories.

I think you won't see all of backlinks from 2500 directory very soon. Keep adding more backlinks but don't limit only to directory submission. paid review, link exchange or article submission will give you more benefit.

It would definitely help your link building
if appropriate anchor are chosen and you are accepted in them
it will help you increase your SERP positions as well

    I don't know why u guys still behind 2,000 or 1,000 submissions?????

Its just foolishness to submit in this manner,,,,,,,,,

Its about PURE links : my suggestion is to lookout for quality based links with domain trustworthy links.

Guys u need to do the smart work,,,,,,,,,,,
Google is now much smarter than u think and the old tech won't work.

Links must be natural and should be in a strategic way

I don't think directory links are useless
I have done COMPLETE link building campaign (for low competition niches)
just with FREE directory links and they were very succesful !!!

I don't suggest that anyone should do JUST directory submissions

All I am saying is that every link counts. Directory links don't count much
but THEY DO COUNT that is why you need lots of them !!!
They are FREE and they are PERMANENT can you bit that ???

Why waste your time garnering thousands of random directory links when 1 quality relevant link will be more effective. ;)

I totally disagree with the points about "quality link... blah blah blab", "G will not reward you.. blah, blah, blah".. Link submission is pretty powerful and has value.

What happens when you buy ads at AdSense, AdBrite, etc.. you get thousands of thousands of links at instant. Google does not penalize you for this, Google does reward you for this. Off course the argument here can be that your ads are displayed at both high quality and low quality sites. Well, here I do not have anything to fight this argument, but in general my point is the more links the better.
