    hi,

i have a website which is since May08 and was getting an avg. daily traffic of 250 users but when i changed GUI of my web pages and CSS template, the traffic suddenly came down to 0 visitors.

what would be possible reasons behind this?

If you have server logs which tell you what search keywords were driving traffic to your site, look for phrase variations which you might have inadvertently removed from your pages when changing your templates.

I think you need to study your traffic source before you can know the reason. From example, if all your traffic came from a site which is linking to you and the site suddenly closed, then you will lose nearly all the traffic.

Well I would like to echo the sentiments of what people have already said in the thread.

So did some changes and as a result of which your traffic dropped to zero. Now the only way of knowing why is to study the history of your analytics and identify the traffic source.

Normally a blog or a website gets traffic from various sources and any changes made to the blog/website does not affect all traffic source. So effectively the traffic may drop but you should still have some numbers on the board.

The only reason I can see for this is that you were getting all your traffic from a single source and something you did made it stop delivering traffic.

I think there will not much affect on that. First submit your site to google, yahoo etc and make your website search engine friendly. Then slowly traffic for your website will be increase.

Look at the number of internal links on pages... it may be that your re-design added more internal links to too many pages deeper within the site.

You can get penalised for this, as I've seen for one of my company's clients. We removed the links, waited for the next cache of the pages and results were back, some were higher than before.

If it is all the way to 0, make sure the actual traffic observing codes aren't screwed up. It's at least possibly that you are getting traffic but the new changes disrupted whatever you're using to track your traffic. Something to check at least.

    hi,

i will suggest you to do all SEO activities again and also check your rankings for all the keywords affecting your traffic and website. After doing this you will achieve your rankings and traffic both.

You need to always make sure you have setup advanced stats for your websites to find out the source of your visitors and if there is a gain/dip in the total.
