Applying for Adsense, should I have problems?

Discussion in 'Guidelines / Compliance' started by goldensea80, May 31, 2006.

I applied for Adsense yesterday for my new website [my sig]. Do you think I will get approval/denial? Or What have I do to improve the performance for G Adsense?
    Thanks!

Shouldn't have any problems (that I can see), but don't expect too high a CTR. Image hosting sites yield notoriously low CTR and earnings. I would recommend looking into CPM programs to help bolster your income.

Thanks for comments. Maybe my difficult task now is to build the traffics and users, now the status is still very low.

ya should be find approval wise. Your site looks good in FF tidy says two errors but you can iron those out!

Traffic and competing sites will likely be your biggest battle.. Rome wasn't built in a day but it'll be work to get noticed and the CPC may also effect you... Move your site ahead !!!

    Cheers!

It's generally accepted that there are three major players in the CPM program: Tribal Fusion, Fastclick (now Valueclick Media), and Casale Media. I don't personally subscribe to Casale being in the Top 3, but others swear by them, and they've never failed to pay me. Tribal Fusion is the undisputed king, paying out the best rates overall. How much do they pay? It depends on what you're willing to run. In 2006, from my own experiences, TF is averaging around .80-cents CPM, while Fastclick is doing around .40-CPM. Casale is clocking in at a stable .30-CPM. (We are just talking about skyscraper, leaderboard, and box banners here; I do not use very many pop-ups, and those pay much better than the normal banners.)

Failing to get into these three, you will have to look for lower tiered programs that I can't vouch for. Mind you, I have about a dozen of them, but I personally don't vouch for them.

Others may feel free to chime in with their own experiences.

Oh cool, first-hand information. I have got no experience from CPM. Now I know where the CPM is about.

Is it smart to use adsense and one of CPM programs together if you are getting lots of impressions (i think this isn't against AdSense TOS)?

I really appriciate your writing. Thx you.

It's not only okay with Adsense, but it's really the smart thing to do. You don't want to rely too much on Adsense alone. If you have banner ads on the site as well, if something (god forbid) happens to your Adsense account, you won't lose your entire income in one fell swoop.

Hmm, I am still thinking of that problem, but what content should an image hosting site have?

    More Images.

I am using Casale for about a year now, they are okay, not very good.
they pay a modrate sum. ofcourse Tribal is the best.
Only two problems with all three, TF, Casale, ValueClick are -
    1) its very hard for a new site to get in, nearly Impossible.
    2) If you are not using pop-ups you will not earn a ton, just modrate sum.

Yup, content, that's one of the problems of an image hosting site. All you'll end up getting is "image hosting" ads. This is one reason why the CTR is so abysmal.

My suggestion: require that everyone who uploads picture must write at least 10 words about it.

Good suggestion, but he's definitely going to lose users that way. People who upload images just don't want to be bothered by the host. You just want to go to your CP, upload your images, and paste it wherever you want. The best you can hope for is that they make their filename descriptive enough to work as keywords.

Too bad for now :(, I was rejected
Both the reasons are not quite right. Maybe the site is too simple (my intension) and Some picture have non-English description.

Ouch, try like one said to you (jackburton2006?), make one simple quality content site (you will need that kind of site) and apply again. Than you can set ads on this site also.

    Good luck.
