HI, I have a new site, WebbySwap.com, a Classified Type of Website but purely for swapping only. What is the best way to market this kind of website? I just bought traffic, but seems it is not good as most of this are just visit/close and no sign ups, and just ordered directory submissions... another thing that I'm thinking to add is article submission.. will this help? Thanks Bob
Article submissions WILL help. How about a utube video or video blog. Craigslist is good but I recommend not to hotlink.
Buying traffic generally isn't a good way to get people to actually start using a service. If you want to market a classifieds site, then you should most likely start with blogging and forum postings. Also article writing as well as link building will help out. If you are looking to outsource any of your marketing you can PM me for details.
I once promoted a classified ad site with ppc advertising and it converted very well, but I would also recommend article marketing as it is the easiest way to get "set and forget" traffic.
If you want real users you need to make a few changes. Minimally: Remove the Google Ads. You can always add them later when the site is actually popular - right now it's just sucking away the few good visitors you're probably getting. Work on your ad copy and make registration obvious & easy. Your extremely small call to action on the homepage (Join Now!) isn't even a link. Get some users on there. Add some of your own stuff to trade or coax friends to do it. I don't know who in their right mind would sign up for a site to trade goods when there is nothing to trade for. Show activity - get some categories filled and show cool stuff to swap on your sidebar, etc. Do something cool to get people to add their stuff. Offer a freebie or a signup bonus if they join the site. Get an opt-in newsletter on that registration form. Send a periodic newsletter with trading tips.
I agree with Tekime and his points also Try getting an ad done by fastimageads and post it on craigslist he is really good also do some blogging blogs always help
Hi, Thanks, I removed the adsense.. yes, I needed members and content.. if anyone can help me with this, I'll pay.. pm me. regarding the fastimageads, those banner packages includes posting in craiglist? or it is just for the banner? Thanks bob
Any more ideas? Where is it worth it to put up ads but not will cost an arm and legs... btw, I am paying for those who can be a member and post valid ads on my swapping site, just to start up with entries : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1074458 Bob
