Is this "keyword" stuffing?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by tarponkeith, Oct 19, 2008.

I'm trying to move from web programming, and learn about SEO, and have a question...

Would the following META keyword tag be considered "keyword stuffing"?

<meta name="keywords" content="about dogs, raising dogs, dog kennels, dog health issues" />
    HTML:
Would I get penalized for using the word "dogs" too many times?

    Thanks!

Search Engines no longer take any notice of the Keyword meta. But in any case your entries would seem to be fine, as long as the page was indeed about those terms

Definitely not! I just disagree that meta tags don't work much in SEO. It is very helpful, IMHO! The combination of off page and on page is very helpful in SEO field. :D

The meta tag is there to mention keywords so there is no reason to banned you because of mentioning keywords in meta keyword tag.

your meta tags are fine...but if my memory serves me right one the few major search engines that still look at Meta tags is AOL.....Google/Yahoo certainly dont, and thats where you will get your traffic

It is not going to be considered "keyword stuffing", but keep in mind that major Search Engines no longer take keywords META tags into consideration.

On the other hand, I think Google does still care about your meta DESCRIPTION tag when determining relevancy, so you might want to use one or two of those keywords in that.

meta keywords do nothing in google. have experimented with deleting them from ranking pages, putting them back, stuffing them, deleting them again, never any changes in rankings at all.

    entirely worthless

Only repetition of same word in four keywords is not considered to be "keyword stuffing"; Be assured

    it's ok.

this is not stuffing. now it depends on your title and description of site, how you use your keywords in title and also in contents.

this keyword meta tag is ok.
