Hi guys, I've been reading a ton of posts about Squidoo and it's SEO powers, and how so many people are making thousands a month pushing squidoo lenses. I really want to know how does one promote a Squidoo lense, I don't think article marketing is the way to go and neither is blog commenting or forum posts. The only thing I can think of right now is Social Bookmarking but I'm totally sure that that isn't enough and no one would be able to rake in thousands of visitors to a single lens. I must admit I haven't experimented with squidoo much, just created a couple of lenses here and there and that's practically it. I mostly focus on my own sites hosted on my own servers and using my own domains, but if there are things out there that can benefit me and others alike I'd love to get to know them and try them out and see how i do. Thanks
In my opinion it's a little bit trickier than any site, yes it has it's ups (a page from an authority site like squidoo would probably be liked more than my new blog to the Search Engines), but how would do you think if I start placing squidoo links in the resource box of articles. Some article directory owners are already blocking any link that doesn't come from your own TLD. Again with blog commenting, squidoo lenses stick out and spell disaster, and what about other forms of link building?
Does anyone else have a hard time reading squidoo pages? They always seem kind of, well, cluttered. Maybe it's just the ones I've been too.
and why not build your own site and promoted, if squidoo closes your account you will lose that traffic.
Squidoo has an incentive to putting several modules per lens, which can give a disjointed feel if you're trying to read an article. Text is often broken up into sections, interrupted by polls, link lists, and product links. It's unique, and sometimes even interesting, but not necessarily the format you want if you're trying to read something.
Most people who create Squidoo lenses don't know how to make them aesthetically pleasing, but it is possible. The chunky multimedia look can be kinda cool, too ;-) It all depends on what kind of user experience you want to create.
The choice to break up text and to interrupt it with polls, link lists, and product links is that of the individual LensMaster. All that Squidoo requires of a lens is that it has at least three modules, not including the introduction and guestbook modules.
There are a bunch of directories you can submit lenses too: www.Lensroll.com, www.Squoogle.com, www.IsleOfSquid.com, www.LensmasterWorld.com, www.Squidom.com to name a few...
Thanks guys. So from what I've gathered so far is. - Submit my lenses to Lens Directories - Promote them on forums Let's keep it rolling
to the person who asked about clutter on the Squidoo page... make sure you go into options and "unmax" your lens, which will give the page a cleaner look and take out some of the other links and ads on the right hand side. I agree, a lens is just a web-page so promote it like anything else. Write articles to point to it, using anchor text for the same keywords you are pumping in the lens. I use a site called 3StepAds, which gets indexed really fast by Google for some reason, so an article on there will help get the lens indexed.
