I'm setting up a new online store that is going to go onto an exsiting domain name What would you recommend? domain-name.com/store domain-name.com/shop domain-name.com/..... I am leaning towards 'shop' ... any input? Thanks
I prefer to have the store as the top level domain. However, if that is not a choice, I would have to go with store.
I would stick the "store" in the root folder unless you are running wordpress or something in the root. Every now and then I will use something like /community for a forum(ex.) Hence, given the demographic, it is often times on point to use something different or clever for the directory name. What is the demographic or what are you selling? Nigel
2 votes for store already ... ok I'm sold. The store is an add-on to an existing informational domain. Demographic is primarily to people (25+ est) challenged with weight loss issues. Products like teas, books, nutrition, etc ...
when someone searches for products they will put down buy gold or shop gold usually never gold store therefore I would use shop. Shop is also a verb, what you want someone to do. When they click, you want them to SHOP, not visit your store!
Im with dimmakherbs - either SHOP or BUY Buy is a good keyword for getting people who are done looking and want to take action.
