pagerank isnt important for the traffic, for example i have some pr5 sites but they havent traffic. also my pr3 site 20.000 visitor / day.

if you wanna sell backlink from your site,pr is important.

For high PR get backlinks from relevent sites with a higher PR. But the key thing is, make sure the links are DOFOLLOW. :)

If you care about search engine results (and I do), PageRank has some importance. It is not all-important. But it is far from “useless”, as so many DPers are inclined to say.

“Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results.” — ©2008 Google - http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html

Higher PR —> "more likely" higher SERPs. That's what Google says. I can't understand why this mental block is so hard for so many DPers to overcome.

you're right. thanks for the clarification.... website that have high pr is most likely ranking higher in serp....

well, to rank high in SERP and PR, we need to build a lot of quality backlinks right? --- "no one will say no"

so... if the site has a number of good backlinks... it will rank high in SERP and get the high pr.

most webmaster always confused why low pr site ranking higher in SERP... this is because SERP updates everytime and PR updates every 3-4 month... so we'll never see the "current" PR for the pages..

    Regards

No matter PR is important of not. It is better to focus on traffic and ranking, unless you are planning to sell links.

If you can get a high ranking for your keywords and that drives you tons of traffic. Why do you need to bother about PR. You will need to get quality backlinks anyway in order to rank well. And that will automatically help to boost your PR. But still, you are focusing on the ranking but not PR.

PR is useless unless you're trying to sell the site to someone that doesn't know any better.

It's very hard to tell just exactly how important PageRank is. If you're building relevant, quality links then PR is a fairly decent indication of how you're going to rank in the SERPs, but if you're paying for high PR links (just for the sake of having high PR links), then your page rank is a poor indicator of how you'll do in the SERPs. As Matt Cutts has stated before, there are over 200 other variables (obviously some more important than others, we don't know where PR slots into there) besides PR that are taken into consideration, so it's safe to say that high PR != high SERPs.

That's what I meant about a mental block in many DPers. Reread the incontestably clear statement by Google (copyright 2008, above) that higher PR makes your page more likely to get higher SERPs. Yet some members repeat the mantra that PR is "useless". I personally would never consider higher SERPs to be useless.

Based on my site, higher the PR, the more quality links I build in my site. It means higher chance to get high search engine result. For me, PR is still important, although you can rank a site with PR 0, having a high PR is an advantage for more keywords to rank. :D
