help in table border

hi,

i made a table border with attribute
<table border=2>

this gives me double lines...
can somebody tell me how i can make an attractive border with just singlr line showing...my background is medium purple...#9370d8

or if i can use image to make border then how i can do it..

please help me in this..i will be thankful..
