I'm using digg for almost 6 months now and I can say that what you say is indeed true.

When I am trying to get geek traffic I usually use reddit.com instead, a little different crowd.

It depends on what you use the social sites for, but Digg is the best, in my experience, I also post to about 20 different social bookmarking sites.

all the traffic coming in from digg and reddit is probably only through a social bloggesphre.
using both of these could be a better I dea although Digg provides a better Google ranking and Google traffic what about Reddit what engine do they mainly come up on??

No its Not. Digg doesn't work well with all kinds of content. For instance...it may work well with politics/technology/health/Games etc..but may not work well for other types of content.

Digg traffic is sometimes 'useless' 80% of the traffic is just one time....They dont take any 'action'. (subscribe to RSS or make a comment or buy a product etc.)..

Stumble upon on the other hand works well with almost every kind of content...but they don't convert as well. So the best way is to mix things up...Use all the major social bookmarking sites ...test the results...and see what works best for you

Digg is better for your search engine rankings.
Stumbleupon will drive the most traffic.

    - Why do we submit our site to social bookmarking sites?

    Ans: To get traffic

    - What do we do with that traffic?

Ans: We try to convert them in 'customers' / 'readers' / 'subscriber' etc.

So What I'm saying is.. Digg traffic doesn't convert well for all kinds of content. They will give you a massive amount of traffic...but it will be like a one time traffic...

Yes, You can use orkut, but it will just you traffic and i think it's not helpful for business network. if you have some fun related site or hollywood, bollywood masala site, and you want to generate traffic, it will help you.

Orkut helps too much to increase Alexa Rank. (if you works in group messaging)

    Ohhh,

    now it make clear,
you are right, we can only get full traffic on site with DIGG, but no meaning that we also get permanent visitor or any subscription, coz digg's upcoming will show it and some user just read title and will click,

as if they click we will enjoy, some were not intresting on topic, they will left it......

and some of them will subscribe. over all i am agree with you. this is only one time traffic.
