The Russians in the forum were laughing at the US a few weeks ago and now they are in a deeper collapse than ever before since their total failure after the cold war.

Any one dare to say that won't last more than a day on the streets of Russia.
if he is in a free country and say it loud he may have some time left on the earth, until KGB get their way to him.

Oil may bottom at $50 and commodities are in a tailspin.

Russian dollar reserves are falling due to lower oil and gold prices for oil as well as a stronger dollar

It wasn't only Russians that were laughing, everyone was saying similar comments. A German official said that the United States as a financial power is over, two weeks later Europe is in a financial mess and it doesn't surprise me since the global financial industry runs through our banks in the United States.

Closing the exchange is only going to delay the problem not solve it.

Nothing to do with the Georgian war, that really doesn't cost much, some good war exercises for the military only. It is the drop in crude oil as well as the Russian govt and banks exposure to the USA sub prime that cause the Russian stock market to collapse. Reagan did it once with USSR, Bush may be doing an encore with Russia this time round. Wondering about China really........can China be immune or are they doing another SARs or Melanine type of cover up again?

China has a plan to increase consumption among the rural class and to increase their income as well. China's rural population is 737 million.

Russia is trying to fight a 'new' cold war at the same time it faces financial collapse.

THis weekend Russia held the biggest strategic war games in more than 20 years. Nothing of the sort has been seen either in Russia or the United States since then. Speaking to AFP from northwest Russia, Russian navy spokesman Igor Dygalo admitted it was unusual for the navy to conduct three ICBM test launches in two days -- a submarine in the Barents Sea also fired a missile Saturday -- and called the tests successful.

Russia is increasing military spending 30%.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in late September, announced a special $200-billion procurement program aimed at restoring the Russia's degraded strategic forces.

I think they did pretty well with capitalism, looking at the per capital income of their people and things of those nature. Capitalism isn't perfect and at times people don't think rationally and this is one of those times.

Russia faces a flight of capital due to their sabre rattling. Perhaps Russia will revert to socialism.

Russia is in a state of inner turmoil. It cannot decide on what form of government to run.

It doesn't matter as long as his puppet is a willing puppet which seemed to be so, I guess Putin made his choice carefully......

The Russian military is the wild card. There doesn't seem to be political control.

Yeap, this is quite visible in the withdrawal from Georgia, the political process does not really control the military withdrawal. It seemed that the Russian commanders have a mind of their own.

Do those sites even have any girls?

The siituation in Abkhazia and South Ossestia is similiar to the situation in Trans-Dniestria. The Russian 14th Army is cut of from Russia ny the independent Ukraine. But continues to cling to the terroritory and make its own policy.
