add it technorati and ping it to as many places as you can. This usually does the trick for me.

you do not need to submit to google or any other search engines. actually its best that SEs find your site thru backlinks and index it. when i do a new page, i just bookmark them on popular bookmarking sites and they get indexed within 24 hours. glad to see you found the 404 issue. should be ok now

The 404 error though is just a 404 custom page. It just redirects users that have done like www.yoursite.com/badpage.php

I don't get why that would bother google, Im not sure if thats the problem why im not getting indexed

All I do is to make a post about a new site on my 15 blogs and wait for a few hours.

Sitemap and Social bookmarking site are your way to indexing. Simply stumbling your site will do. Stumble it or digg it! :D

do you have an RSS feed? If so go to pingler and submit the rss feed, this should get you noticed - only once per day though!

I purchased an expired domain 2 weeks, ago, added pages last week, created RSS feed and sitemap, pinged them and they show up on Google, yahoo, msn and the like.

Well, if you are already spending hours and not getting there, spending $10-15 and a few minutes might just be more productive don't you think?
