Will Google Slap Me For Doing This?

I have a niche site that's doing really well in terms of adsense income and I'd like to set up another similar site on the same topic. Can you do this without getting penalized from Google?

How can this be pulled off successfully?

I don't see a problem with this. Maybe use a different hosing company so that it is on a different sever? Not sure if both on the same sever would be much of a problem though.

Having two websites on the same topic or even on the same server shouldn't be a problem as long as you (1) do not interlink them excessively, (2) do not clone them and (3) do not optimise them for the same keywords.

Hmm i have heard websites of a network or a chain hosted on same server gets sandboxed.
Not sure about this, but give it a try, or search more on this in google, youll get your options.
    Good luck.

It should be no problem at all, even if you target the same keywords. They are fine with someone owning more than one related site. They just don't want the sites to be replicas of each other. They will gladly use your extra ad space.

Doesn't trying to rank both your websites for the same keywords lead to keyword cannibalism? Or does keyword cannibalism only occur for webpages on the same website?

Thers is no problem with that. only thing is that you should not be copying the same content to your new site.

Personally, if I was to do what you are about to do, I would make sure I'd covered every topic possible and fully milked every last drop out of my primary site. By making a second site on the same subject you will wind up having to divide your attention between the two.

My personal opinion is one great site is better than two average sites.

Have completely unique content on each site...different titles, metas, content on all pages etc...If you go any bigger you probably should spread them around on various datacenters across IPs...but as long as they are knowledge providing, valuable sites, you acquire inbound links for them and treat them like their own entities, you will be all good. That's easier said than done of course...a lot of people recommending focusing on 1 site but it all depends on the resources and effort you have behind the project...

why not combine as a one? I am just curious..

coz creating a traffic is not an easy task and you want to build two in a same niche..

    just wondering.

if you will target same keywords then both sites will become competitor of each other. You can target other keywords for same products or services and stuff unique and fresh content. Do not copy anything from old site.

Make sure is fresh new content, But why not just build new pages onto your existing site for more keywords. Because the time and effort to start a new site is alot, consider the age, link backs, etc...

It is a good thing to go for different keywords.

    But:

    - unique content
    - not all the same backlinks
    - and maybe, not sure, it might be better to let someone else own the site

It is OK to do it...as long as you use the different set of keywords when optimizing them.:)

That makes logical sense to me also. I can't imagine working two sites up the rankings in exactly the same nice/subject matter.

What are you trying to achieve?
