I have my own rss feed why i need to use rssmix? I can submit my direct rss feed to rss aggregator. Anyway, thanks for the list.

I still believe rss is faster than submit directory to get BACKLINK.

What backlinks? Most of those feed sites have scripted links or are nofollow. Either way they do not provide you with a 'true' backlink. So how can you make that statement? Do you have an evidence that it 'is a great way to build backlinks quickly'?

Yeah, good thing you didn't! :D

I have no problem with helping in general. But it is when people come into the thread and make unfounded statements that lead everyone else to believe something that plainly is NOT true, that is when I feel like stepping in and calling them on it.

I also have a problem with these 'lists' that keep getting regurgitated over and over again. Most people who publish them do not even bother checking out which item on the list is really worth pursuing or not. The bigger the list the freaking better, too!

What inevitably happens is that people read this crap, take it as gospel, and waste their time submitting their sites to them. Most of them usually have a 'catch' to them, of which is usually never a benefit to you and is more of a benefit to the item on the list (ie, you must provide a backlink to their site or some stupid looking badge to clutter your sidebar with.)

I ran through all of them, there aren't alot really and Ithink Ive only skipped maybe 2-3 of those that have requirements, most of them are simply submitting your feed or your blog url, as for effectiveness only time will tell

I did 2RSS.com years ago. The 'catch' was I had to provide a backlink to be in their directory. Their directory provides no backlink in return (cgi scripted redirect link). I received no traffic from their directory.

Later I dropped their backlink, and guess what? I am still in the directory. Screw em.

It would be nice to see some of these list gatherers actually post some detailed data on which ones are actually worth going after, and which ones are dogs. Anybody can post a list, and I think it is disgusting that they are wasting a lot of people's time and effort.

as a newbie myself, try out everything (unless it cost money, then you should think about it first), if they are free, there's nothing to lose :)

First, get a Feedburner account and use them for you feed Url. They make it easy for people to subscribe to your feed with virtually every online/offline reader there is.

    http://feedburner.com/

At a bare minimum, submit your feed to Yahoo and Technorati. People tend to overlook the power of Yahoo's RSS directory.

    http://publisher.yahoo.com/rss_guide/submit.php
    http://technorati.com/

If you submit to these lesser directories and they require a linkback to be accepted, then skip them (or delete the linkback after you have been accepted). Why feed them with some of your PR, which is usually a sitewide link in the sidebar ... when they are not returning the favor? It makes no sense, but it does help them out immensely.

And rather than accept these lists on blind faith, monitor your referral stats so you can report on them later in the forums here. Let us know if any are worth it to take the time with.

Don't expect submissions to the lesser directories to garner you any linkbacks in return or any that are worthy. That is why the premise of this thread was started, and it simply is not true.

hi, whirlybird20, your list really works. I have tried to submit my web to these rss directory, just after 2 days, i really got some back links, also some of these directory give me some traffic.

but there also some problems, I did check some of these rss list and find parts of them fully copied my articles content. Yes, it's true, though i forgot which are they. So does this duplicated contents hurt my google ranking or pr?
