See thats the worst thing isn't it, I dunno about you guys but when I say I make a living online people just give a slant smile and say "right", it would seem the general population still doesn't accept the fact that the internet is a great place to earn money. Most of the time I just say I'm a webmaster or I do websites and try to avoid explaining how that actually makes money. Wish you could say "webmaster" and be as accepted as when you say "accountant" or "engineer".
when somebody asks me what I do, I just say "computer stuff", and try to change the subject to something else. If they ask more specifically what I do, I say "web design"
, i like that , this is my same answer. but what after when you say web design> most of the people with faces like ( HUH , What , you make money from there ?? !! ) then you should change the subject, its hard to explain sometimes.
I met some people who say that their work is being a googler and they're like us, making money on the internet.
Advertising and Marketing Consultant. Or, as I like to do, guess what answer the person asking is looking for and match it.
If I had to renew my ID document, I'd opt for 'webmaster'...anything different would be too much to understand in an italian registry office
after I tell them I 'work online', I remind them that sites like myspace sell for hundreds of millions and google is one of the largest media companies in the world...usually gets rid of the puzzled looks.
