Cost per Click decreasing?

I've noticed recently that my CPC for clicks on AdSense ads is down around 5c whereas it used to be about 50c. Why is that? I read somewhere that Google often look at how many clicks from your website convert to decent outcomes for the advertiser, maybe because clicks from my site aren't converting to sales on the sites they're going to I'm being penalised?

because quality of content is decreasing.. many people are crazy about adsense and just do copy and paste or PLR articles..

The content of my site hasn't changed though... It's a completely static information site!

i'm guessing your account is new? if so, it's normal for cPC start high, then drop based on the 'quality' of your clicks.
My account is 2.5 years old, and my cPC has been all over the place, but for the last several weeks it's been higher than it ever has been - good thing too, because my CTR is much lower now..

Most probably they have already smart priced you. If your traffic doesn't convert well for the advertisers, google will assign lower CPC in order to protect the advertisers.

Can it go back up? I understand why theyre giving me a lower CPC now, but is it a permanent drop?

I agree.. smart pricing could have been the factor for decreasing cost per click..
