I am looking for some advice on starting a forum. I am thinking on starting one where webmasters & non-webmasters can go to find help and ways to make money. I would like to set it up where people can talk about any market, affiliate, different way's affiliates can be used to maximize their earnings. I would also like to have a section for people looking for work etc.... One thing i notice in a lot of forums is that affiliates & forum owners do not allow posting of affiliate links. Why is this? This would be one of the features i would like to allow in my forum. Do you think allowing this would attract visitors to use my forum and stick around for a while? Looking for all avenues of advice and would like to thank all reply's in advance.

To be honest, 'webmaster' is a very big niche, and there are soo many webmaster forums that haven't made it, due to the success of the big forums such as warrior forum and DP itself. What you're planning to do is pretty much what every other webmaster forum does, you need to think of something different from the other forums to make it attractive for people to sign up to your site.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm guessing affiliate links aren't allowed because the forum will get completely overrun by people spamming their links all over the place...

Forums can be quite a hassle at the beginning when you are setting them up. But it is very rewarding once you have established a base of users and posts, not to mention the money you get. If you decide to go about making a forum, I would try to find something that people are doing less of. For example there are thousands upon thousands of webmaster forums out there, try something different with less competition :).

I would say "NO" ! There are far too many webmaster forums out there.....forums are a long term, high investment commitment and will not return any profit within the first year unless heavily advertised....
