Hi, On the internet one can find many ressources about how to get money online. Thing is, the people giving advice have an alexa rank of 100k at best. Even very popular blogs such as doshdosh.com for instance don't have an outstanding alexarank. What would your strategy be if you wanted to get a website to have 100k visits a day as fast as possible? What content? What promotion technics? How would you use SEO? Anything else? Would your strategy be different for a general website and a niche website? Thanks. If there are people here with big traffic (50 000+ daily), where is your traffic coming from? How did you achieve this? PLEASE TELL US YOUR TRAFFIC FIGURES AS YOU POST. You can have good advice even if you're not succesful yet, but still I'd like to hear from people that already succeeded.
Uh, it's a combo of advertising and word of mouth. How else do you think they did it? Even 10,000 a day cannot be done without those two things.
Age, content, validity, paid ads, inbound links, etc... Everything takes TIME.... there really is no way to get mass amounts of organic traffic with the flip of a switch.
Yep just takes time, and word of mouth. If people like your site and you offer something some body or everyone would like, could use, or finds interesting people will just refer others to it.
I get 10,000 uniques per day from google image search, Alexa rank 20,000. It seems for a blog to get truly massize traffic, it needs a LOT of high quality posts e.g. www.problogger.com has 8,000 pages for Alexa rank 45,000. I get my 20,000 uniques from 100 pages, but my site is not a blog.
Uh-huh. What's your site, live-cms_com, and what are the keywords? And, uh, problogger gets less than 1,000 daily hits, with very few, REAL, comments.
Doshdosh has done an awful lot in terms of networking and building up contacts.e.g. lots of followers on twitter, digg, sphinn etc etc. He's really worked the social networking side of things to build up his 'brand'
But i belive to grow as fast as possible you should invest atleast 50% of all profit back into advertiseing ect this is building you up quicker for a great future.

In the end, you need to have time and patience. There is no quick fix to getting 100k hits a day to your site that is actual real traffic and not some crap traffic exchange. DoshDosh built his brand from social media marketing, which lead to word of mouth and backlinks to his articles. It took him about a year to achieve where he is at right now, still a smart move on his part. In the end it was all about time and patience though. There are several tactics you can use to try and achieve your goal, that is what marketing is all about. Weather it is PPC, using a lot of social media sites to grow your traffic over time, heavy commenting on other blogs (useful comments, not spam), forum participation, article marketing, guest blog posts (great one), and depending on your niche attending conferences just to interact and meet with new people. The list can go on and on, just a matter of how much time you have to devote into your marketing efforts and if you have the patience to continue doing it.
Try funny pictures, like if people search "lol" on google images the first result is a funny image from your blog. Not many people really use image SEO so it would be good and thousands of people search lol daily? Also the pic has to be extremely funny so people can use it as sigs / avatar which equals more backlinks for you.
There are loads of ways to get traffic, but to get a massive increase you will need to have an idea / site that people are interested in, preferably a niche with little competition, and you will need a lot of investment. Invest in the right marketing and you will be repaid for your hard work in time.
I get between 6,500 - 9,000 a day (uniques) ... the only advertising I've done is forum signature links and the rest has basically came from other sites liking the site and backlinking it.
Wow! That's a lot of traffic from forum advertising. would you like to disclose which forums you use and how posts you make per day.
Thank you all for your insights. Many of you suggest to "take my time" and "be patient", I think this is more a requirement than a means to success. Being patient is a passive thing, and I am more looking for actions to take. Also, it does happen that a good promotion lead to success without the need for time to help. I am not talking about viral effect here, I know enough about this and it would be too long a topic to talk about here. What I am talking about is effective promotion pretty much. What are your ideas about this?
We really should not use Alexa ranking for measuring a site's success. A 2K per day unique site could make 5M+ per year; I am talking from experience. An adult site could get 10000 daily easily. So it depends on niche and lot of other stuffs.
I cannot edit my post but when I talked about a good alexa, i meant good traffic which you are right is not the same. So basically, same question but replace alexa whatever by 50k to 100k + daily.
