What are your opinions about PHP language future? Does this language have any perspectives or it will be replaced by a new technology later? What do you think about this?

I think the next generation technology will be perl, python and .net

specially the technologies that can develop combination of desktop and web based softwares.

As PHP is an open source language, specially for web lots lots of people are moving towards it. It is also easy to get started and a very capable language. Its function library is simply huge. In my opinion PHP is the future of Web. This capable language will lost long , I am very much sure.

i agree PHP is what the future of server side coding.

the best thing about php is the fact that iits multi user capable.. for e.g

when you first started using php you could build application practically straight away and they would work with no problem.

but when you get to an advanced stage its the same language but its like a whole new code structure

    for instances
Lower Level is using variables, functions, creating your own functions etc

and you get to the advanced stages and your into OOP, classes and well basically "creating a living structure".

due to the fact that it can suite any one, i think php will always be at the top :)

Does it seem like a dying programming language to you?
What's the reason for concern here?

Right now php combined with javascript and css is impressive as it is. I don't see how it can be replaced, every language have it's own purpose and uniqueness.

Javascript is the language that needs replaced, c'mon a single threaded language in this age? And don't even get me started on browser incompatibility, whatever mozilla just did absolutley trashed ff and opera ( try putting an invisible Iframe on a page!)

P.S. yeah, php gets my vote and the libraries available are awesome! .net ruby etc. content managers limit creativity, I have been doing sites heavy on AJAX for a "desktop" feel, nothing "below the fold" my clients and thier clients love it!

ASP Classic was replaced by .NET. PHP continues to release newer versions and now becomes more object oriented with PHP5

PHP is definitely not dying. It's gaining for attention especially from corporate companies who realise it's cheaper and more efficient potential. Why use a paid programming language that you need to pay large amounts for programmers to use, when you could use PHP and find a cheap expert to maintain your framework for half the cost, if that.

There are more and more large scaled php projects coming up. I think PHP projects involving apache/php/mysql/Db2/IBM's AS series and I5 OS together is something that we will se more of in the future, and a growing demand for office applications, BUI's instead of GUI's, based on that kind of platform. Zend and IBM has teamed up, so there are big financial muscles behind PHP now. That's a strong incitament for large corporations and organizations etc to switch over towards php.

In short, more greenbacks for php'rs :)

I know both Java and .NET, but am learning PHP. If you have an opportunity to learn PHP, jump in head first and do it.

I have already started studying PHP, html and scc styles! It is very interesting process. I am just wondering if there is a demand for website development services at the global IT market today and if it is increased or decreased, what are your opinions about this?
