Extraordinary posting about dmoz and the site suggestion process! Should be made into a sticky and posted at the top of the ODP section of this forum.

Required reading for Webmasters who Want to Submit to DMOZ for Web Site Listing in the Open Directory Project (ODP). (There! That should be enough keywords for searchers to find. :))

Did I miss the sarcasm here?

I once told some guy that he should follow the guidelines and was told that such advice was shaky by an active editor... so I'm not sure of the sticky value a link to the guidelines would actually have.

According to many editors the guidelines are just guidelines and the only thing needed to get a listing is unique content... then there is the matter of the number of sites accepted that do not seem to meet the guidelines... which would mean that the guidelines would just confuse those wanting to get a listing.

Heh... the only real thing that should be in a sticky would be "SUBMIT ONCE AND FORGET" which, is actually itself pretty debatable, as there are many editors that do not use the submission queue...so maybe the only real guideline for submission would be something like "it's a crapshoot!"
