Yahoo Domains $34 - Going for a Shark!! - Frustrated

Hi Friends,

If you have any domains at Yahoo, Please move it to another registrar immediately. I had a couple of domains and suddenly they are renewed automatically without any confirmation (Yahoo has already announced that their domain's renewal going to be $34). I was waiting for the date

Imagine my 5 domains renewed automatically charging $170 - Really screwed!!

Beware of Yahoo Renewals!! and avoid Registering domains in Yahoo, since there are many companies proving professional services than Yahoo Small business!!

Really!!! That’s woeful. What about other registrants like godaddy? Are they increasing renewal fees as well?

 

Yeah I saw this a while back as well. Thats a pretty insane move by Yahoo. I remember when they were selling them for 2.99 a year...I guess $35 to renew is what they had in mind lol. Way to go Yahoo!

 

Damn are they crazy ?? who will pay 34$ for renewal if they can do it for 7-8 $

 

Thats daylight robbery. Price is just stupid

 

I got email from yahoo some time ago with this terrible price and started to forward my domains to Godaddy

 

$34 renewal price is ridiculous for a Domain Registrar. Thanks for the warning, will come in handy for those having domains at Yahoo.

So after all senior management left, is now yahoo running by 14 year old kids ?

First offer domains for $3 and than later make it $35.."Pure Genius"

 

Those who is too busy to notice the charges on their bill get hit hard.

 

Yea really.. Not a good move on yahoooos part and about as "Genius" as a mud fence... I moved mine away from there as soon as I heard the news about a month ago.

They lost my biz.

Anyone that moves there domain names from there, be sure to cancel your account there too or they will still bill the account, even once your name is set up someplace else.. The domain account has to be canceled at yahoo for it to stop billing and after they accept and release the transfer.

I would be curious to hear the profit out come for yahoo on this brilliant move after the dust settles.. Wondering if yahoo will make enough margin from the people that are a sleep to make up for all the people like me and you that insta-pulled our names from there.

About the best thing that move will probably make is a good econ or statistics case study.

Nope, other registrars are as usual with good offers and prices. Even Bob Parsons criticized about the price increase.

 

How can they justify such a huge rise I know all registrars even godaddy charge more for renewals than first reg but $35, no way will they get renewal business. If others folow suit we'll all have to trasnfer instead of renewing. godaddy is offering free privacy for bulk transfers atm I've just done 30 but its such a pain woudln't really want to be moveing everything each time its up for renewal.

 

well network solutions charges somewhere like $30 for domains... yahoo is going that way i guess?... lot of people will renew for the sake of simplicity... definately a rip off though... you can easily score domains for less than $10...

 

That's odd, I remember Yahoo always being on the pricey side.
