Hi. Im shopping for SLL certificates and its confusing as hell! Some go for $60 per year, some are $400 and verisign is $1000+! What is the difference? What if I settle for cheap or medium priced SSL?
The server is what determines how secure a connection is. If your server's ssl engine allows less than 128 bit connections then it is generally considered low security. Most up-to-date ssl engine's connect at 128 or 256 but many allow 40bit for old browsers. This is independent of whether you create your own certificate or you buy a $2000 Verisign EV cert. The higher the cost, the more thorough the screening process for the ssl issuing is. On a connection level, there is nothing more secure about a $2000 cert compared to a $50 cert as long as they are configured properly on your server. If you just need a basic SSL cert without any sort of site seal or extended verification, go with godaddy or a cheap one. If you are in a position where trust is a big issue, I recommend Verisign because Verisign is the only issuer that everyone recognizes.
yes, verisign is the most safe for SSL or low price try whit GoDaddy.. for free you can try whit www.cacert.org..
Don't go for cheap SSL such as godaddy SSL you must use a well reputated SSL such as Verisign or Geotrust
verisign is best but expensive, but thawte also fine some cheap.. some hosting comapnies offer their clients to 49$ to 256bit thawte SSL.. ex:3ix.org
What about compatibility? I remember a when GoDaddy first came out, they had some major issues with Mac browsers. Has that been resolved?
Comodo's a good affordable option in my opinion. Thawte used to be but they're prices have skyrocketed throughout the years.
cacert.org is a great attempt and a great idea but pity most browsers still does not recognized it. It is something along the line of a self generated cert. Hopefully as time goes by, it will gain more and more acceptance.
Because of the site fees and the support they will charge fees, and ssl certificates depends upon the quality. try comodo
