Whats wrong with adding your own personality?
If you are into that niche and you are popular in general then why not add your personality?

I think he's saying the mistake is not to add your own personality - but that's a bit of a hostage to fortune - if your personality is argumentative, prejudiced and impatient, it's probably better to keep that to yourself ;)

nice post. i think 80%+ webmasters have websites just earn a few bucks. a majority of webmasters are young kinds, we really can't expect all of them think like a businessman.

Great list. There are too many people who tend to promote something they don't know a jack about. You should always aware of what you are promoting. It always helps in building reputation.

Mistake Recipe #1: Sell Something You Don't Understand. Well I have loads of sites for topics/genres/niches I don't understand and do well for them!
Mistake Recipe #2: Don't Add Your Personality. Personality can help differentiate sites, and especially blogs if you are handwriting the content!
Mistake Recipe #3: Ignore Your Traffic Stats. Analytics is key to understanding & developing so agree on this one
Mistake Recipe #4: Don't Collect Email Addresses. If you have an opportunity to build a list, why not?
Mistake Recipe #5: Sell sloppy Products. You should choose appropriate products which relate to your site, at the end of the day its in any marketeers interest to choose good partners if they want to make money - not rocket science and should be a no brainer.

    just my thoughts...

BTW you are obviously trying to make money from those ebooks. The english is pretty poor on your site, perhaps you can get someone to help you write it? It reads like a babelfish translation.

Mistake Recipe #3: Ignore Your Traffic Stats.

So a person is promoting a product though SEO and your saying he should ignore traffic stats?

Mistake Recipe #4: Don't Collect Email Addresses.

Have you heart of customer loyalty? I'm not even going to explain here how it is important to keep in contact with your potential customer..

After reading this I can easily say that you don't seem to understand what your are writing.

Guilty on that one. What I don't know how to do is utilize the stats that I have. Are there any general guides out there? I'm running Google Analytics.

Yeah! what if I sell a product I know well and people don't want.

I would say rather to sell a product which I know about much, It is a good Idea to sell what people want.

So I prefer this one for me, and works for me.
